Actually Terry if you do happen somehow to get on the wrong side of the law it isn't much fun.

You would be held without a lawyer until the police are done questioning you.
Then after they have got you to admit to everything you have ever done in your whole life then you may see a lawyer, who then would try to pick up the pieces - usually doing some kind of deal with with prosecution to drop some of the charges before you are obliged to plead guilty to those that remain.

There is no jury. All decisions are made by one judge.

I imagine some innocent people have been caught up like this and ended up pleading guilty to things they haven't done, especially in molest cases on public transport etc where it is one person's word against another. There is just no point to fight a case that will cost you a fortune and you know you will lose.....

    I was referring to

"Further more regards Singapore, normal people going about their everyday business have nothing to fear from the Authorities.

A perfect example of do no wrong have no fear."

Singapore is a model city for law and order.

Its a Nanny state like Australia the difference being they mean business when enforcing the Law and Australia is weak as piss.

In Australia these two turds would off been fined a few hundred bucks and been back painting trains 5 minutes later.

Your simplistic notion of life generally, and in Asia specifically, really must stop.

Terence, you are a mature man, in physical terms, and it is high time your brain caught up with the rest of you.

Singapore is an autocratic state which brooks no challenge. The law is what someone else in authority wants it to be and is not dictated by an independent judiciary.

Now, if you think the laws that are published are applied to all, equally, in Singapore then you are an idiot.

Essentially, it is a benign dictatorship where personal freedoms are imposed and not expressed individually.

Think of an open prison with weekend licences and you'll get the idea. Certainly, artistic freedom and freedom of the press is highly regulated.

Your little nostrum is childishly simplistic and presupposes only the guilty are charged.. "Do as we tell you and you will be fine" is the order of the day but the definition of wrongdoing and your guilt will have little to do with evidence and a fair trial - that might introduce an element of chance and the little men of Singapore don't leave anything to chance lest they lose total control.

They have the rule of law and enforce it hence when one goes to Singapore it is totally safe to walk around the city at all times of the day and night.

Australia is pathetic, criminals bash people, break into houses and run amock whilst the graffiti artists paint new busses and trains, scratch the windows and get a smack on the wrist.

Singapore does not fuk around, Australia should do the same.
    I agree 100% Terry.

    A simplistic proposition, at best.

I like the American approach better than that of Singapore or Australia; if someone breaks into your home you can kill them, legally and with no chance of civil liability in most states. And Yes, we have guns. Rob a home go to hell.

Farangs arrogantly flaunting Asian laws, high on the list of people to be apprehended by Asian police forces.

Local killers of Westerners, not so much.
