In a country which is over 90% Catholic, with most of the other 10% Muslim, the transgender sympathy card isn't playing well.

The "huge" demonstrations outside the US Embassy in Manila, which I saw yesterday, comprise about 40 wet, sexually confused folks and the odd Commie or two.

Really this post has little to do with the case, but I've just found the overwhelmingly negative Filipino reaction to the tranny's actions interesting, and unexpected. Many appear to be particularly incensed that he was cheating on his gay Kraut 'fiance'. Go figure.
Interesting though, in a predominantly devout christian population, the fundamental tenet of forgiveness is largely overlooked? Everyone's a sinner eh?

Guess so. Funeral is now being delayed while the family awaits the arrival of the gay Kraut 'fiance'........so they can turn this into as big a circus as possible.

I bet the jarhead's shipmates are real pleased with him - as they sit on the ship, staring out at the temptations of Olongapo, forbidden to go ashore for the duration. I can hear the brig guards now, "Way to go, ya sick fucking fag...."

Cathoicism has precisely the opposite effect. During series 2 of Ladyboys, in one episode, three Filipina ladyboys are featured, and they are visibly moved by the tolerance they receive in Thailand in comparison to the stigma and sanctimonious macho aggression that they get at home.
