The thing is when one has the death penalty and it looks like it will be carried out, the sensible tactic when negotiating the next appeal step might be to admit an offence if the sentence will be commuted.
But the contrast between the sentence of these two and the life sentence imposed on Pol. Sgt. Somchai Wisetsingh for the brutally horrific murders of Adam Lloyd and Vanessa Arscott is quite notable. I suppose in the latter case the police officer finally admitted he had killed the victims but not in the circumstances which most understood to be the truth - no one came forward to give evidence for fear of retribution and the Court appeared to be partially accepting the killer's account in handling down a life sentence. I understand that the good sgt. was given a 'trusted status" job immediately on his confinement and was transferred 2-3 years ago to a prison near his home town..........
