But then, the British Government is almost as guilty, if it had any balls it would tell the Thais; you will allow us to come in and interview these arrestees and you will allow us to review all the evidence or we will impose a travel advisory on your Country for the entire high season.

Something similar happened to wife's brother got murdered, we paid for investigation to come to conclusion, someone paid more, we decided not to up the money, ended up a accident, due to him smoking on motorbike and motorbike catching fire and burning him to death.

Thailand the land of money solves everything.

You make the mistake of thinking they actually care, aside from a couple of words in a press conference to make people think they are compassionate.

Indeed. Guilty as charged, though no doubt completely innocent. I was pondering on my way to the office what the Thai reaction would be if farangs started a Justgiving appeal to raise cash to pay for REAL legal representation for this lad. If he did do it, then at least people would know he did. If he didn't and was getting railroaded then we would know as well. I would chip a few thousand baht into the pot.

Yep, with all the evidence above they are clearly guilty beyond any reasonable doubt.
Great stuff. When the police official said that the case was 85% solved a while back, that meant that the Burmese held out under torture much longer than expected.

It simply doesn't work like that for any embassy of any country around the world, and would be a terrible precedent.

Indeed - i wouldn't kick it off. If someone else did I would contribute though. If it were my child I would be interested to know that the culprit were actually being arrested rather than a patsy, and it might be worth a few quid for peace of mind.

Indeed - more than likely they did not though based upon, not least, the fact that they took these guys DNA 2 weeks ago and cleared them.....

Was talking to the better half this morning and she said there is lots of chatter on the Thai websites about not believing what is going on. Guess the murmur from the islands doesn't match the news. Lots of Thai folks asking why some people were exempt from DNA testing.

Ohhh I just thought. POlice to issue statement that illegals killed them, but did not rape her. Someone else raped the dead body and as that is not so bad they are not hopeful of finding them. This way they can easily explain why the DNA they took from these lads ages ago did not flag up as involved, but suddenly they are confessing.

    it is ironic.

When the question of 'Should suspects be tortured to obtain confessions?' arises on Teakdoor, many members rush to defend torture.

Yet when a confession arises that does seem dubious, they are quick to complain about how coercion may have been used and hope that the confession is set aside.

Correct - with torture, anyone will admit to everything under interrogation.

Humans are naturally optimistic and I hoped the new order might change things for the better ,the world is full of awful injustice

    *coughs* people actually defend torture?

Thailand was used for the extraordinary rendition (aka, flights to weeks of relentless torture by barbaric nasty bastards in the hope the world wouldn't find out).

^ Good to hear, if even the normally quite gullible Thais are questioning this clusterfuck
operation, there has to be more to it than meets the eye.

Formal UK inquest into the deaths to be held in January 2015 I'm told.
This is not going away quickly, if that is what the Thais hope.

Just read the comments on the FB links to Thai news reports and not one of them believe it to be anything other a set-up.

Comments extending to 'It's easier for the Westerners to believe because they do not understand Thailand and the Thai police'.

    DNA matches.

BANGKOK: -- A police source has confirmed that DNA sample from two of three detained Myanmar workers matched with DNA extracted from semen found on a British tourist who was killed along with her compatriot on Koh Tao on September 15.

Perhaps some witness could link these 3 to the train rape-murder and free another innocent as well.

It saddens me more to see someone (any human beings) who are likely innocent set up this way than seeing the case not solved. That's the saddest part, those who could stop this likely injustice will remain silent.

You might be right about it being a bad precedent though.
