It really does depend where their base is. Everyone is assuming it is on the island itself. Do you think it is small fry when they get 20-30% of all public and private develoments? The mayor of pattaya got 200m tea money baht for an automated car park, that doesn't work, will be pulled down, and another one built in its place with more graft money to him. They have massive fortunes. If they are running more than just that little island they will be proper loaded and with that comes proper power.

Oh, and Eggyfozzy - the man pulling pints in the bar no doubt owned by the local family thugs..... was just a barman henchman. He was probably filming and holding down the poor girl whilst his boss raped her, and then dealt with the distraction of the guy trying to help her. It's the Thai way - thai culture.
