Voraphan Toovichien. Village chief. Owner of the bar in question. Brother of Mon.

Montriwat Toovichien "Mon". Brother of village chief. Bartender and manager of bar.

??????????? Toovichien. Son of village chief. Lit out for BKK.

    Unnamed random speedboat guy.

Montriwat toovichien - Son of /brother of Voraphan and manager of bar.
Voraphan Toovichien - village head and owner of AC bar

Jock pedo was pulling pints in the bar.

No foot print for the village head or son / brother anywhere on the net - surprising. Maybe the name is spelt wrong?

A couple of Thais? This is going to take a bit to save face having ruled them out at such an early stage...

Hope the case is watertight against these two.

No doubt the BIB could just switch DNA samples with some fishermen. I would want samples taken by UK police and analysed by a UK forensic lab.

Now, let's get this straight - The main suspect was very well known on the island AND,

    1. Was stood next to the bodies in the middle of the crime scene chatting to the police.

    2. Has been identified as the mystery man on the CCTV footage.

    3. Threatened the Scottish guy whilst in the company of a plain clothes policeman.

    4. Refused to give a DNA sample.

    5. Most probably threatened the cops that took him in

    6. It took 8 days to bring him in!!

    7. Was released without charge AND without giving a DNA sample

Fuck me, you couldn't make this up.

Pseudolus, normally you seem to have a fairly sharp brain...But you seem to be protesting far too much in this incident...Maybe it's a case of "a little knowledge can be a dangerous thing"...

This is not a typical crime situation...You should realize this and tweak your tumblers so your thinking can straighten a wee bit...

Let's see what the punishment turns out to be for these crimes...Any guesses in advance, anybody?...

The 2006 beach murder by fishermen was execution commuted to life.

Perhaps execution this time will save some face....

Stranger, it may seem strange to us, but they have "kept their friends close and their enemies closer"...These suspects could possibly run, but they cannot hide...
Maybe the BIB knew they were involved and maybe they didn't, but it still all comes back to them in a relatively short time...

The one "beauty" of their system is the confession factor...Sure saves a lot of bs and the perps catch a break, too...

I will mention the Phuket case again...Those two Thais were sentenced to 100 yrs for the murder of the Aussie woman in a purse-snatching drive-by...Granted they will have some time deducted due to the Thai system, but they still will never be free again, and the judge would have had them executed had they not confessed...

Again, what will be the sentences here?...It's premeditated, na?...Worse than the one at Phuket, perhaps?...They still execute here, do they?...

Interesting analogy BaitongBoy - and here's me thinking it was down to the BIB's ineptness/being under the thumb yet again.

A confession after being nailed by dna will get them out of premeditated.
They will say the victims teased them on and they "got a sexual urge" which made them angry when they saw her with the farang on the beach.
Farangs fault for snookying on the beach near the kings statue.

Anybody that calls the place they have chosen to live and run a business a "cesspit of a country" and the Thai people (of which his girlfriend is one I believe) chickenheads every single post, has too much of an agenda to see things the way they really are, instead choosing to exaggerate and embellish.

Police free bar owners and look for ex-village headman's son

Police are looking for the son of a former Koh Tao village headman in their pursuit of the killers of two British backpackers on the night of September 14, after learning that the man left the island the following morning.

A police source said the man they want to find landed on the Surat Thani coast and disappeared. Police say they want to interrogate him first.

The police last night released two men, who own Intouch Bar and AC Pub on the resort island, after interrogating them for three hours and finding no evidence linking them to the crime.

One of the two men released last night, who reporters did not identify, said he was unable to contact his son and did not know if he had a hand in the killings.

Another man, the younger brother of the former village headman, who is believed to be the man seen on a security camera near the crime scene, is still in custody.

Pol Lt-General Panya Mamen, who is overseeing the investigation, said yesterday that the headman's son is believed to be hiding in Bangkok. Panya refused to reveal the suspects' names, saying police were questioning one man and expected to arrest another in Bangkok today.

I really hope once they finally catch the murderer(s) the judge uses the same hard-nosed approach as was used on the pair who killed that Aussie lady on Phuket.

With all the negative Thai bashing going on (me included) I applaud him (the judge).
Fair is fair, mates. Hats off to him (or deep wai from me).

My sister looks remarkably like the young lady killed (RIP) and the young guy apparently put up a valiant effort to save her, he's a hero in my book.

Do you guys think, there might be a chance the killers get the death penalty?
    *here's hoping...

There's a better chance that it all just disappears when the western press moves onto something else, which they already have done on the whole.

You really are losing the plot here. The ones who were released are different people. They are the owners of the two bars who were brought in for questioning. They were never arrested because there was not evidence to do so.

The one actually arrested (because there is apparently some evidence) and the other one being pursued in BKK are related to these owners, that's all. Half the island is probably related to each other in some way.

Hey, Fluke!...Good to see you, mate...

Well, I believe they were 23 and 24, but still very young and attractive with their futures wiped out like turning off a light switch...It haunts me a little....Shudder to think of their families' despair...

I have a daughter the same age...

It's hardly very clear though - They question Poppa Thug and his son / brother, arrest Montriwat, and then say they have released two people. No idea who owns the other pub mentioned, but it is implied it is owned by poppa thug as well. So what was the other blokes name then who was released with Vorawit or what ever his name was....

"Another person summoned was the owner of AC Pub, who local residents say is an influential person and the older brother of the man who owns Intouch Bar."

    a lovely family.

No shit.. but the reporting in general has been unreliable, confusing and often contradictory. The BIB has been firing out statements all over the place and tripping over each other at times.

It's what you might call an evolving situation...but there does seem to be some small amount of progress if the latest reports are accurate.
