Guard held for murder of 4-year-old girl in Thon Buri

Police have arrested a man suspected of sexually assaulting and killing a four-year-old girl in Thon Buri in Bangkok.

The girl went missing in her neighbourhood on Wednesday and was found dead on Saturday afternoon.

The 27-year-old suspect had used a false name to secure a job at a neighbouring condominium project. In his application, he was identified as Chatree Seedee.

The man told police that he was drinking alcohol and got a sexual urge when he spotted the girl running around alone.

"We have checked recordings from security cameras in target areas since we received reports of the girl going missing," deputy Metropolitan Police Commissioner Maj-General Thitiraj Nongharnpitak said yesterday. "From these recordings, we found a man leading a girl towards an apartment block."

Police scoured the area until they smelled a foul odour coming from a sewerage pipe. When they opened its lid, they found the girl's body in a garbage bag. Her father cried when he saw the body.

The father said she went missing between 6pm and 8pm on Wednesday. His family initially believed she went to a market with her grandfather. But when the grandfather returned home alone, they realised she was missing.

Chatree told police that the girl was familiar with him, but she resisted his attempt to rape her and when she cried out for help, he strangled her.

Employers warned to screen security guards or they may face legal actions

Companies hiring security guards were warned today to check their backgrounds for criminal records otherwise they might face legal actions if the guards they hired later committed criminal offences.

The above warning was made by Pol Maj-Gen Amnuay Nimmano, deputy commissioner of Metropolitan Police Bureau, in light of the murder of a four-year old girl by a security guard.

The possible punishments against the employers of rogue security guards are imprisonment not exceeding three years and/or a fine of 60,000 baht, he said.

The guard, Chatri Seedee, reportedly confessed that he killed the girl after she resisted his sexual attempt. He said he strangled her until she became unconscious, put her body in a black plastic bag and stuffed it in a sewage drain in the apartment where the victim was living with her parents.

Apparently, the victim did not die from the assault. She died later of suffocation in the sewage drain as autopsy result showed dirts from the drain in her lungs.

The alleged murderer was charged with abduction of a minor for indecent acts, murder and attempts to cover up the murder. He was today taken to Thonburi Criminal Court for detention.

Police today handed over 100,000 bath in compensation paid to the victim’s parents by the Department for the Protection of Rights and Freedom in accordance with the law to compensate victims from criminal offences.

Firm faces probe after sex killing by guard

POLICE WILL investigate a firm that provided security guards to a Bangkok condo project after one of its guards was charged with sexually molesting and killing a four-year-old girl last week. The victim's body was found in a sewerage pipe on Saturday afternoon.

We believe the suspect is not a Thai national because he speaks Thai with a Myanmar accent. He also doesn't hold a national Thai ID card," Deputy Metropolitan Police Commissioner Maj-General Amnuay Nimmano said yesterday. "We will check if his employer has followed all the laws."

Metropolitan Police Division 8 chief Maj-General Rassadakorn Yingyong said the suspect had identified himself as Chatree Seedee.

According to ongoing investigation, Chatree has never had any ID card. Over the past year, he managed to get a job and worked as a temporary security guard at a condo block. Thanks to his job, he became quite familiar with his victim, who lived in the same neighbourhood. She called him, "Bro Security Guard".

Chatree told police that he was drunk when he committed the crimes last Wednesday - the same day the girl's family started searching for her frantically. According to Chatree, he strangled her when she resisted his sexual advances and tried to call for help.

The girl's father said he could not accept what had happened and that his heart was burning with anger and pain. "I was very close to my daughter. I am divorced. We often hugged each other," he said, wracked in grief.

The Rights and Liberties Protection Department yesterday gave Bt100,000 compensation to the father in line with the law that promises remedial action for victims of crimes.

Police say Chatree faced charges on several counts, including moves to cover up his wrongdoing. Police will also object to any bail request for him.

The Metropolitan Police Bureau also announced yesterday that police had found and detained 105 suspects between September 1 and September 6 who were wanted on arrest warrants.

Had the fucking cops not delayed their search by over 24 hours, MAYBE, JUST MAYBE, they would have found her before this scum did anything...MAYBE... Why on earth , give me a logical reason why, anyone would delay a search for a missing child...!!!!! The police are useless here...!
