Immigration Police round up 96 illegal immigrants in Central Pattaya Construction Site.
Early on Friday Morning, Police Colonel Itipon and Police Captain Haship from the Immigration Office in Jomtien conducted an operation at a construction site in Soi Neun Pleub Wan after receiving information that Cambodians were working at the location and there was a suspicion that most of them did not possess passports or work permits. The suspicions were correct and arriving at the scene, Immigration Police arrested a total of 96 people consisting of 86 Cambodians and 10 Burmese Nationals. They were all challenged to produce a passport or work permit and could not do so. Upon further investigation, it was determined that some were brought to Thailand using the services of a Thai agent and others crossed the border themselves. They were all taken to the Immigration Office in Soi 5 off Jomtien Beach Road where the deportation process for the 96 people was started.
