Serious misjudment by him.....

he is Chinese, what else do you expect ? they keep doing the same mistakes over and over again until the other side yields
Has suthep been couped?
Yes it was used as the trigger by the "elite". No doubt that the theft from the rice scheme would have been used or some other proof of the "corrupt chinese"
As Butters says a mistake, and yes by an inexperienced PM. But how the hell do you get experienced as a PM in Thailand? Ah yes do not change anything and do not under any circumstance point the country towards democracy. Which is a long road for any nation to travel. Democracy, as all our mother countries prove, does not guarantee fairness and equity but so far it is the best chance we have.
Yingluck was not the first to come up with this idea. An ex-terrorist had a similar idea about letting bygones be forgiven. Black fella not Chinese. Nelson was his first name. The Brits had to bight the bullet to get peace in Northern Ireland as well. But has been said it was obviously too much too soon, and in perfect hindsight somewhat naive .
Really?
Sounds like he's finally realised he's winning nothing. The Bangkok Shutdown will be shut down this weekend but the fight to oust the Yingluck Shinawatra government is far from over, protest leader Suthep Thaugsuban announced on Friday night.

Bangkok Shutdown shut down
28/02/2014
The Bangkok Shutdown will be shut down this weekend but the fight to oust the Yingluck Shinawatra government is far from over, protest leader Suthep Thaugsuban announced on Friday night.
All of the People's Democratic Reform Committee (PDRC) rally stages will be dismantled and blocked roads cleared, and all activities will then be moved to Lumpini Park, said the PDRC secretary-general.
Only four of the original seven rally stages remain: at Pathumwan, Asok, Silom and Ratchaprasong.
The decision brings to an end six weeks of major disruptions at strategic locations across the capital as PDRC campaigners sought to force the caretaker government's resignation.
"The PDRC would like to return traffic lanes to our Bangkok brothers and sisters," Mr Suthep told the crowd at the Pathumwan intersection on Friday night.
Lumpini Park will be more "comfortable" for protesters, especially those who have come to Bangkok from the provinces, Mr Suthep says.
"My sincere apologies to all Bangkokians for the inconvenience. It's just something we had to do."
He said nobody had forced the PDRC to dismantle the sites, not even the "incompetent" caretaker Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra and her deputy Chalerm Yubamrung.
"We decided to stop the 'Bangkok Shutdown' but we'll continue to close down government offices and businesses of the Shinawatra family as usual and our fight will be more intense," Mr Suthep said.
"I'm determined to end this by March so we can start national reform, so please be patient."
The former Democrat Party powerbroker said he planned to get pro-PDRC musicians to perform many concerts at the Lumpini rally site. The money earned from the shows will be given to relatives of those who have died in the political violence.
Twenty people have been killed and around 700 injured since the protests started at the end of October.
Mr Suthep said the protesters would help clean up the Pathumwan, Asok, Silom and Ratchaprasong areas before moving to Lumpini on Monday.
The PDRC decided to gather at Lumpini only because many buildings and conference halls were situated there, and the group could hold meetings and seminars to exchange views from various sides, he said.
As well, he said, the park would be "more comfortable" for people who travelled from the provinces to take part in the rallies and needed a place to camp overnight.
When the shutdown began on Jan 13, PDRC organisers set up seven rally stages at high-profile locations in the capital: Lumpini, Asok-Sukhumvit, Ratchaprasong, Pathumwan, Victory Monument, Lat Phrao and the Chaeng Watthana Government Complex.
In the early days of the campaign, speeches and other activities on each of the stages attracted thousands of people every evening. But attendance has fallen markedly in the last two weeks or so.
"We will raise the level of our rallies after we return the roads to Bangkok people," Mr Suthep said. "I personally hope the game will be over by March.
"I hope that after we return the roads to you, Bangkok people will rethink how important what we are doing is for the country and join us."
Responding to the government's plan to invite United Nations Secretary-general Ban Ki-moon to Thailand to help solve the political crisis, Mr Suthep said he believed the UN did not understand Thailand's situation the way Thai people do.
In any case, he said, Ms Yingluck could not communicate well in English and that could pose a problem during negotiations.

Anyway, thanks for proving to the naysayers that Thai people really value their vote Suthi. Now go home.
It seems we now have the "Shutdown Lumpini Park" movement.
Presumably in another six weeks Suthep will choose a telephone kiosk to shut down.
Do something useful for a change- shut down Patpong. They might just have the numbers.
This looks like a typical Thai face-saving exercise.
Suthep gets his own little corner of Bangkok to continue pretending he is someone important while the rest of the world ignores him.
Next, the bye elections.
Govt Spokeswoman Presses Charges Against PCAD Guards
(27 February) Deputy spokeswoman of the Prime Minister Office has pressed charges against anti-government guards who had briefly detained her on 25 February.
Ms. Sunisa Lertpakawat was identified and captured by security guards of the People′s Committee for Absolute Democracy With the King As Head of State (PCAD) near their rally site in Pathumwan Intersection of Bangkok.
The guards were seen interrogating Ms. Sunisa at their headquarters tent before she was released and told to leave the protest site.
PCAD leaders have previously vowed to "arrest" top officials of the government in the bid to oust Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra and her Cabinet members.
Speaking to the police at Pathumwan Police Station today, Ms. Sunisa expressed her wish to press charge against the guards for illegal detention and physical intimidation.
Ms. Sunisa said she was visiting Pornkasem Clinic near the intersection for her dermatological conditions when the guards recognised her. The spokeswoman insisted she was not on a mission to spy on the protesters and she did not intend to provoke the PCAD demonstrators in anyway.
"I have to see my personal doctor who treats my skin," Ms. Sunisa told reporters, "If I didn′t go there, I would have to to the branch in Bang Kapi, which is very far from my residence".
Ms. Sunisa also claimed that she decided to visit the clinic in Pathumwan despite its close proximity to the protesters because PCAD leaders have repeatedly asserted that their rallies are peaceful and non-violent.
However, she said, her experience tells otherwise. According to Ms. Sunisa, a group of 20 PCAD guards stalked her shortly after she left the clinic and eventually mobbed her, some pulling her by the hair. The guards later escorted her for an interrogation.
"Let me stress that I didn′t intend to get close to the demonstrators and provoke them," Ms. Sunisa said, "I had to go because it was really necessary. Please give me some fairness".

I am still waiting for any arrests . . .
It's no surprise this shit happens when consequences are next to nothing
Worse than zero consequences; failing to act against what amounts to treason is guaranteed to make the PAD even more brazen.

The lumpini rally sight is still a happening affair.
Lumpini park is over flowing with tents once again. Nice around the lake.
I took a heap of photos yesterday starting at Democracy monument and the up turned cars and trucks all the way back to Lumpini.
I'll post a thead up later on the protest sights.
Don't know how long the protesters will stay , in a few weeks time its going to be stinking hot.
Suthep wont mind as he's living in the Dusit over looking it all.
Actually I can hear them kicking off right now.
Wander down soon for a look see.

I'm all in favour of sending in water canons loaded with disinfectant once a week just to ensure they don't breed some god awful disease.

I was down there late this arvo.
The park is near on over flowing with tents and people. Happy vibe, plenty of food and water.
Stages being erected all over the park. Great spot to be protesting.
Starting to warm up out there though, a few more weeks its game on.
What always amazes me with the Thais is their level of organization. Yesterday Lumpini Intersection was a city and today they have relocated it to the park over the road.
I was at MBK earlier and its the same story there, an Army of people pulling everything down and cleaning the streets.
All the rubbish cleaned up and the streets returning to normal, down side is the streets will once again be chocked full with cars.
Been brilliant being able to walk the streets void of cars and the street life that had sprung up.
