Three dead in bomb attack on army Humvee
Blast flipped military vehicle on its roof

Three military officers were killed and another critically injured in a roadside bomb attack on their army Humvee in Yarang district yesterday. Sgt-Maj 1st Class Supub Chuecheen was reported dead at the scene. Pvt Kongket Sukserm and Sgt Thanachok Kaewwongsa were pronounced dead at hospital.
Pvt Sontaya Chansri was seriously wounded in the attack.
Police said the Humvee was attacked with an improvised explosive device buried beneath the 410 Pattani-Yala road in tambon Mohmawee.
The bomb was triggered by a detonation cord as the vehicle drove past.
The explosion flipped the vehicle on its roof and left debris and a large hole in the road, police said.
Elsewhere in the province, Ban Koh Chan school in Mayo district was set ablaze yesterday, but firefighters quickly brought the fire under control.
Only minor damage was caused in a school canteen, police said.
Early yesterday a rubber tapper was seriously injured when he was shot at by a drive-by gunman in Narathiwat's Rangae district while on his way to work in a plantation in neighbouring Cho Airong district.
Late Friday night, a teenaged Muslim boy was seriously wounded in Rangae district when he was shot by two drive-by gunmen.
Yesterday, two masked gunmen opened fire on a novice and a military escort in Rangae district. The novice was collecting alms.
After a five-minute exchange of gunfire, the attackers retreated. No one was injured.
Pol Col Sompong Khonkaen, commander of the 41st border patrol unit, said he was concerned about the unusually high insurgent infiltration into Songkhla's Saba Yoi district, one of four districts bordering the three restive southernmost provinces.
Despite the concerns, he said border patrol forces would be removed from the areas on April 30 due to pressure from local residents.
