Trusting Security Guard Robbed By Drinking Buddy

An off-duty security guard celebrating his payday was stabbed and robbed by a stranger he had invited to drink with him in front of his room. But after the guard got drunk, the man stole his mobile phone and wallet and stabbed the guard as they fought.

The armed robber then escaped.

SATTAHIP – September 18, 2012 [PDN]; at 2 p.m., a report of a man being stabbed and robbed was received by Pol. Lt. Narate Boonthee, investigation officer on duty, Sattahip police station, Chonburi province.

He rushed to the scene with the rescue officer of the Sawangrojjanathammasathan Sattahip foundation.

The incident occurred in front of a rental room in the middle of Soi Sattahip Sukhumvit 29 (Saisamphan) Moo 3 Tambon Sattahip, Amphur Sattahip, Chonburi province.

At the scene, police found the victim sitting on the ground in front of his room. He was identified as Mr. Kanchit Yangchom, age 30, a security guard, address 7/63 Moo 1 Tambon Phla, Amphur Baan Chang, Rayong province.

Mr. Kanchit was stabbed by knife in his back and bleeding freely from the wound. The rescue officer performed first aid and later sent him to the emergency room at Queen Sirikit hospital.

The suspect who stabbed him had escaped without a trace. During questioning, Mr. Kanchit told police that he was sitting in from of his room alone and drinking 30 proof liquor. He was celebrating his salary as a security guard.

When he saw a man walked past, Mr. Kanchit persuaded the stranger to drink liquor together with him.

After Mr. Kanchit got drunk, he saw the man picking up his bag that contained Mr. Kanchit’s mobile phone and wallet with10,000 THB inside from his security guard salary. So Mr. Kanchit fought with the man, but the stranger used a knife to stab Mr. Kanchit before escaping with his property.

Pol. Lt. Narate Boonthee said that because Mr. Kanchit was still very drunk and difficult to understand, police could not get a clear description of the armed robber, and there were no witnesses.

Later when Mr. Kanchit returns from the hospital and sobers up, police will call him to investigate more to collect information and evidence to follow up to arrest the thief.
