Double whammy on Visa application Original documents.

Last year my original letter from British Consul in C Mai was kept by Immigration when I applied and got my 1 year Non O. This proof of income letter now costs me over 2000 Baht and has to be less than six months old.

When I said to to Pattani the nice bird in C Mai Consul that it surely wasn't right for Imm to demand an original, she just shrugged and said nothing can be done.

Does anyone else feel aggrieved at this "fukk you Farang, we make the rules" attitude from Immigration.

I am due up for renewal next week and am anticipating all kinds of obstructive shite, even after 7 years of living here.

The problem in Thailand is that the being a "public servant" actually means that they are to be served and you must grovel to them for everything and yet get little to nothing in return.

Yeah, the same attitude is easily observed in the Tax office.
Last time I was there they were wearing these silly white shirts with
a "I love ( big red heart shape) taxpayers' motif.

I don't wanna sound like some plonker from TV, but where is this happening?

My first year here, I slipped a couple of thousand in my passport when applying, and the officer handed it back to me saying it wasn't necessary. That same officer still works there, but I don't fancy trying it again.

My first reply was longer but as this is not in member only i try not disclose to much...

For a one year business, you need 4 employees, if you do not have those, it is 20K, they will give it for 15k as well...

Know a few similar cases, the price is set and well known and ready by the immi staff...

Somehow it is stupid coz there is a registered business here, and you should not be allowed a visa with quite some investment made, but the law being the law you have freedom to buy your situation in anyway...

That is for one kind of situation,...

So what's the big fuzz about that?
I'm sure that in my home country proof of anything, when dealing with authorities, cant be more than a few month old.
Income changes over time and I don't find the less than 6 month requirement unreasonable.

Ive just applied to rent a house in the UK. Any documents I had to produce had to be no more than 3 months old.

I'm sorry, do you think you are somehow entitled to some sort of special treatment, on account of being farang? Do you feel Thailand owes you something?

It doesn't help you a lot though if the requirement is that it should be dated within 6 month before your apply.. What you gonna use the old original for?

Try getting a work / resident visa or renewal in any other country in the world... Shockingly similar to Thailand...

    Proof of clean police record
    Proof of income
    Proof of residence
    Authorization to work
    Pay taxes if you work
Documents are often required to be translated and Apostilled prior to acceptance...

    Quit yer bitchin'...
