If anyone is fixing to go to the thai consulate in Penang to get a tourist visa be aware of these changes taking place on Monday the 14th
Other than the 100 applications a day the requirements are only for getting a tourist visa from them

Looks like somebody got tired of actually having to do their job.
So Mr. 101 gets all his ducks in line...troops over there and...twats.
Nearby coffee stall will be doing well with the early arrivers.
A friend went to day and said the requirement is for plane ticket in and out of Thailand and confirmed hotel booking for the first week.
Think these satellite. honorary or state consults are going to be a thing of the passed soon.
Australia had them in Melb, Brisbane and Perth for visa issuing, now, Canberra only, centralization is the name of the game, IE money.
How many satellite consults does the UK, US, Germany etc, have in Thailand, just the way of the world.
All visas etc will soon be done on line with electronic visas, it's about time passports when over to credit type cards as well, cost effective.
If they cannot cope with the demand then why not simply operate a two tier service and offer a next day issuance for a fee of, say, 5,000 baht failing which visas will only be issued after, say, two days for a straightforward visit visa, and three days for everything else. By limiting folk to 100 applications per day simply means everyone will either get there earlier or pay for a queuer to get there before sparrow's fart. Stupid, but that's Thai for you.
Maybe eventually but thailand's very slow to change or moving forward compared to their neighbors......more practically the visa run business and everything associated with it is a big money maker

I read today any company renting motorcycles to any foreigner needs to have copies of the international drivers permit, the drivers national license and insurance papers. The drivers must carry these documents on them at all times including their passport.
Plus papers for the vehicle including local insurance and registration documents on hand.
Starts today and no waiver!
With scarcely more than an AK47, three mags of ammo a piece, a cup of rice a day and the discipline to take a long term position, Victor Charlie fucked up the greatest military force on the planet, whereas the Thai still haven't implemented a fucking safe, meaningful pedestrian road crossing system in any urban environment or a decent municipal bus service outside of the capital.
kind of answers your question.
Yes, jc framing that as a rhetorical question was a bit odd.![]()
