I've had so many offers over the years from Farang who have built around village fkn nowhere to buy their dream white elephant home.
It always makes me smile " offers coming over the phone " because they don't Know I ain't buying.
Some of them don't even know that the house is no longer in Tee Rucks name, it's been sold on right under their big noses.

terry57 :My friend's wife had one of those Policies and when she examined it carefully she found out it would not pay the money until she reached the age of 75 !!
And jolly unhappy it made her too .

When she cancelled it she lost 450 000 Baht !

    True story.

Their letter was pretty clear . But they asked for papers . We sent them . So then they asked for different papers . 8 weeks later they announced they need to translate them . So we're still waiting . But I think it will come in a single payment .

Her husband has died ( at 53 ) . What can she do ?
I suggested she ask CaptainNemo but she said that guy's an absolute wanker . In Thai !!

    I don't think helping a person makes one a tit .
    But clearly you do .

Wasp Maanaam - kindly spoken .
I'm sure you are a nice bloke, but the road to hell is paved with good intentions. Being cynical - about Brits as well as Thais is, as you seem to know, basic common sense. We don't really know enough to determine who if anyone is "robbing" anyone else, or what kinds of people or relationship this is.
There are lots of things she might be able to do, and I don't think I'm alone in surmising that much as giving to charity tends to line the pockets of gangsters in the third world, getting her this estate might end up with it finding it's way to undesirables. Who knows, maybe the arsey brother deserves the money?

Do you mean she said "ชักว่าว"? What a potty mouthed bint.

I can't fault you for being a sucker for tits, I like a nice tit as much as the next wanker.

first thing that happens when a farang dies is police go to the house and TAKE all credit cards, atm cards, bank books etc. IF someone uses the cards after the person dies they will be charged with fraud
I have a living will, a will and an executor both PLUS a detailed letter about what i want done.

    Absolutely correct,

It is a criminal offense to use someones ATM card or credit card unless their name is linked to it. Very serious in Thailand in fact.

Hence if ya give a fook about ya bint ya need to see her right by doing a Will.

They are cheap and easy to do.

If ya really want to roll the dice ya can give her your Pin Code.

    I suggest that's a shit idea.

People get married but don't trust their other half enough to have a joint bank account. Something wrong somewhere with people's choice of marriage partner.

Do I make a new Will leaving everything to My 11 year old Son.

Time to make an appointment with My solicitor I think.
Er.....at the risk of being pedantic.......Batteries have volts. Solicitors and banks have vaults.

Just make the appointment and tell them what you want and definitely don't want. Their job is to explain to you how to achieve what you want. Probably a trust fund or some such thing. You could perhaps even get free preliminary advice about this from your bank if you are currently in the West.

Je ne suis pas un suckerfortitties comme vous avez dit !!! I resemble that incineration .

Je suis well aware of scams and lies and skulduggery . Had a friend who warned me and warned me and ...... well he warned me . Emphatically and often .
Meanwhile his much-trusted girlfriend was selling his properties and removed EVERYTHING !! About 30 Million Baht !!!!!
So I know . And it doesn't apply . Nobody else was able to help . So I helped .
I make nothing but a warm feeling . And I can lose - nothing .

Well ....... there is an ending to this . Although it started as an enquiry about getting a speedy emergency visa to get to the UK for a funeral etc.
The discussion shifted to Wills and Probate and scams and lies .
HOWEVER ...... amazingly ...... Aviva paid out ! I still would say to anyone that avoiding Aviva would be a wise move - but they paid out .
1.7 Million Baht - direct to the lady's Account in Thailand . Which she would not have gotten hold of without somebody's help . In this case a kind wasp.

What surprises me is that they did not ask for a Death Certificate or Probate or Coroner's Report .
They asked for a bloody stupid Thai mobile bill - but not a UK Death Certificate !

However they were damn slow . 9 Months to make the payout .

And the answer to the original question seems to be " No . There is no emergency helpful visa . "
Which seems wrong to me .

    Many thanks to everybody .

    It's not the end, Wasp.

Now you need to make sure that she invests that money wisely instead of spending it or coming into the clutches of some greedy relative.
