London Embassy - Non Imm. O Visa

Hi, I'm thinking of applying for a 3 year Non Immigrant O Visa at the Thai Embassy in London and wondered if anyone had any experience of the process there? I'm under 50 with a Thai wife. I don't work as I have enough income from a couple of rental flats which I can show through bank statements. I just wondered if it was worth the £250 fee or will I have to have a medical and CRO check as this doesn't appear clear and to be honest I've not found them that helpful in the past when applying for normal tourist visas. Thanks

Multi-entry, if you need it, is an obvious convenience... especially if you need to flee to a neighbouring country within 3-years, and pop back to get a hot dog at 7-11.
It just means you can hang about longer than usual, and potentially legally do a lot more than you might otherwise than other tourists, not that anyone seems to care.

Err, I rather think you are not intellectually suited to a long term residence in Thailand. According to the RT embassy's London website there is no such visa other than perhaps a three year Non-immigrant B visa for which, in your declared circumstances, you obviously do not qualify.
Non-immigrant O visa as a spouse may be a better bet which you can then convert to an annual spouse extension, obtained in - country, obviating the need for travel every three months.

Sorry there is no such visa.

There is a 3 year Non Immigrant B visa if you can prove a business reason for it.

Non Immigrant O are "To visit Thai spouse, children, parents, voluntary job, retirement (with State Pension)" and are valid for a 90 day permission to stay.

So you can get that one, there is a single entry version, much easier than others. No medical no CRO needed.

You can then get a 1 year extension of your permission to stay when you are in Thailand

    Full details at Non-Immigrant Visa

Thanks for the advice, except maybe SA's which I'm still trying to work out whether it's a slight on my intelligence or those that choose to live in the LoS!
