I have to go tomorrow to Savanakhet, sort out a visa on Monday, is it same day turn around there? I've not been before so I was hoping someone else would know.

Also, can you get a triple entry tourist visa, or just a double?

    Thanks,

    Al

Don't know about the triple entry tourist visa, but the mulii O for spouse is an overnighter, apply in the morning, before 11 am I believe and pick your passport up the next morning.
Not much to do there, so fine a good hotel with a good bar. Jim

Use kip, they charge double everywhere for baht.

It's an overnight service, but not as crowded or annoying as vientienne.

Glad to hear this. I thought that the authorities were becoming stricter re visas on the basis of Thai children and that birth certificates were no longer considered proof of parentage.

I think it was DrBob who posted at length on the process

I think it's they are cracking down on people using a child for the visa, if you have custody and are in fact supporting the child, all is OK.
In saying that I was going to get a child support visa this year, as recommended by the Immigration Chief at the time.
400,000 in the bank one day, new Chief, no, spouse extension of stay only. So I will be off to Lao next month for a multi O, which I hate as it eats up my passport pages. Jim

OK, can I change baht easily enough? Either in Mukdahan or on the other side.

Also dollars, can i get hold of those on a Monday morning easily enough?

Sorry for all the questions, I've left this to the last minute a bit.

Use Dollars for the Lao crossing, sound UK so I think $30 or 1500 baht, last time I crossed. Use Baht at the Thai Embassy for the visa and use Kip in Lao. Though I have heard that you can get a discount on other things if you use US Dollars.

Either way you are talking less than 1,000 Baht for an overnighter.

Look at poor me, I'm going, wife, 2 kids to see the dinosaur museum. Jim

    Again, thank you Jim.

I'll only have baht when I get to Mukdahan so I'll have to try and change up some for dollars / kip there. I don't fancy using my cash card just in case.

I read somewhere (i think a khon kaen forum) you can get an OK room on the river for 400b or so. So the 1000b sounds spot on. I wont be going mad.
