^^I got one a couple of years ago. I got the impression from them, at the time, that if you presented evidence that you had, somewhere in the world, the kind of cash that would quality you for a 12 month extension in thailand if it had been in thai bhat in a thai bank; then they would generally give you that 12 month multi entry non imm O.

I will probably soon apply for some kind of long term visa and being a HK resident, applying in HK seems to be the natural thing to do. So you say HK is a bad place to apply for visa ?

    Vientiane, Laos

The last time I went to the Thai consulate VTE they gave me 15 days for an overland stamp after I paid $30. For me it was scamland. I had to return to Udon Thani fly to BKK and take the overnight 3rd class train to Udonthani and the bus back into Laos. What a nightmare. This was The week leading up to New Years Dec 27 to 29 December. Best go to Savanakhet. They are really mean and surly to foreigners here at the Bridge. They treat you like dirt. Laos immigration knows:
10,000 retired persons are not going to change Laos character but the 10 million dollars they spend here a month will make a difference. I guess Thailand doesn't want the money.

The hk consulate is fine if you are a HK resident. its just everyone else don't want to deal with, and they make that very clear.

Guess things have lightened up considerably in Vientianne then. Have been up for a pleasant few days 3 times in the past 7 months and got single-entry 60-day tourist visas each time.

Last time I was there a guy offered an all-in service for 4500 Baht for a double-entry. I've heard of a couple of people being turned down for these in the past year.

Anyone have any specifics on this. My 3x entry from Canada runs out in July. I am looking at getting a 1 year multiple with no money in a Thai bank. Can it be done?? Anyone with details on what is needed, documentation etc...? I had read on a thread somewhere that can be done in Savanakhet.
