Islam is the only political mainstream religion in existence.

Friday prayers involves a rant from the mullah on Islamic PC behavior in the community and directives as to current politics.

Please define all applicable periods in history and describe the religious tolerances observed during those periods. Extra points will be awarded for comparisons of such periods relevant to this thread.

Islam recognizes and is supposed to tolerate the three"True" religions, namely, Islam, Judaism and Xtianity, as all three recognize the ten commandments, the first one being a recognition of a one god, thus monotheism.

When Mohamed formulated Islam it was as an active protest against idol worshipers (worshipers of stones) who dominated trade in the Red Sea area at the time.

He advocated a return to an original and natural form of innocence (Muslim) whereby a peaceful way of life (Islam) might be achieved. Mohammedans adhere to his views.

Pity that so much has been lost in the interpretation since.

The Taliban used it in 2001. The Hindu minority were required to wear yellow badges. The reason being the Hindus could then avoid public beatings for not observing muslim customs.

Were Jewish people required to wear yellow stars for their own protection? Is that how it started?

Pakistani muslims lived in an area near my own in the UK.

Pre the rise of muslim extremists the women were never seen wearing Burkahs.
After 9/11 there was a noticeable increase in the number of people wearing thi face mask.

It is obviously being worn as a badge to show their utter contempt for their host countries. I and many others found this attitude very offensive.

Any peoples living in a foreign country should primarily respect the indigenous peoples of their host country ----(Including farangs in Thailand)

If the muslims cannot do this then feck off back to wherever they came from.

Not PC but look where thirty years of being controlled by these idiot PC woolly headed liberals has gotten ouir respective countries.
Time for the whire races to find their bollox and stop being afraid to offend scum

    'No discrimination' in veil row

Ms Azmi is appealing against the dismissal of her claims

A Muslim classroom assistant suspended by a school for wearing a veil in lessons has lost her claim of religious discrimination at a tribunal.
Aishah Azmi, 23, was asked to remove the veil after the Church of England school in Dewsbury, West Yorks, said pupils found it hard to understand her.
The tribunal dismissed her claims of religious discrimination and harassment on religious grounds.
But Kirklees Council was ordered to pay her £1,100 for victimising her.
Mrs Azmi, a married mother-of-one, said she would be appealing against the decision to dismiss her religious discrimination claims.
In a statement she criticised ministers who had intervened in the case and said it made her "fearful of the consequences for Muslim women in this country who want to work".
She said: "However, I am pleased that the tribunal have recognised the victimising way in which the school and the local education authority have handled this matter and the distress that has caused me."
Muslim women who wear the veils are not aliens

The case attracted comments from the prime minister, who backed Kirklees Council for suspending Mrs Azmi.
Tony Blair said the wearing of a full face veil was a "mark of separation" and made some "outside the community feel uncomfortable".
The government's race minister, Phil Woolas, demanded Mrs Azmi to be sacked, accusing her of "denying the right of children to a full education".
Mrs Azmi, who is originally from Cardiff, said: "Muslim women who wear the veils are not aliens, and politicians need to recognise that what they say can have a very dangerous impact on the lives of the minorities they treat as outcasts.
"I will continue to uphold my religious beliefs and urge Muslims to engage in dialogue with the wider community, despite the attacks that are being made upon them."
Tony Blair said wearing full face veils was a "mark of separation"

Headfield Church of England Junior School, which has 546 pupils, suspended Mrs Azmi because it said pupils found it hard to understand her during lessons.
Kirklees Council said the decision was taken after a monitoring period in which the impact of wearing the veil on the teaching and learning was studied. It said: "In this case the school and local authority had to balance the rights of the children to receive the best quality education possible and Mrs Azmi's desire to express her cultural beliefs by wearing a veil in class. "The education of the children is of paramount importance and it is disappointing that the school was unable to reach a compromise with Mrs Azmi in this case."

This case comes to mind when reading the OP.

Oh, and the CIA prepared reaction for just such a scenario.

Clearly many people envisioned such a scenario, and some even warned it was about to happen.

I'm quite unsure where I stand on this issue...

hmmm, I recall (with some shame now) that during my primary schooling we had an Indian teacher, none of us liked her accent, we found it difficult to understand her also...

cos she would pronounce Vii-ta-men as Veet-a-min. I do not always think children are the best voices to listen to in these cases.

All this....for "hurt feelings." Yes, what IS, going on in the UK?

How I nearly lost my business after refusing to hire a Muslim hair stylist who wouldn't show her hair

    By Natasha Courtenay-Smith
    18th June 2008

It Seems too lunatic to be true. But here a hair salon boss reveals how she was driven to the brink of ruin - and forced to pay £4,000 for 'hurt feelings' - after refusing to hire a Muslim stylist who wouldn't show her hair at work.

For Sarah Desrosiers, meeting Bushra Noah was not a moment in her life that she would describe as especially memorable.

Not only was it brief - lasting little more than ten minutes - but it was rapidly obvious to Sarah that Bushra was not the person for the junior stylist position she was trying to fill at her hairdressing salon.

Sarah's reasoning? Quite simply that Bushra, a Muslim who wears a headscarf for religions reasons, had made it clear she would not be removing the garment even while at work.

How can you watch how a teacher pronounces a word if she is wearing a veil? Depending on the age of the children this is important. Children look for all sorts of visual clues in a teacher's face or anyone face for that matter.

    Gitmo detainee: I was groped!

Osama bin Laden's former personal driver, held in Guantanamo Bay, claimed today that he was sexually humiliated by a touchy-feely female interrogator who groped him."

Right...let's check with our resident ambulance-chaser. He should have some profound thoughts on this...
