There is no rule about veiled women boarding a bus in Michigan.Originally Posted by Thetyim

ID-ing by looking at faces is good enough and has been done for ever. Finger printing is not possible in most situations. Retinal scanning maybe better but, again, not easy.
If chip implants become mandatory I wouldn't object.
Correct. It's the bad people we're trying to identify. What's your point?
What absolute rubbish.
Yes there is.Originally Posted by stroller

With the risk of sounding a bit like Eliminator, you really do need to read what I wrote.
I shall try to explain the point again: Before 911 no one thought people would learn to fly planes so they could hijack them and fly them into sky-scrapers.
And here we are, now, at this very moment reading posts from people who say "we should let Muslim women wear full burqas because nobody would dress like that to conceal their identity."
Do we have to wait until someone has done it before you believe it is possible?
Oh, wait a minute, it already happened - the Somali murderer who escaped the UK wearing his sister's burqa.
Ok, I stand corrected, that must be on page 2, which I didn't read, since I couldn't be bothered to register.Yes there is.

Curious though, that noone pointed this out before, since i asked for this info a few pages back.

Marmite jars can contain kryptonite. I demand they be taken off the shelves before Superman gets hurt. I'm not from Krypton, but I dont find your avatar funny.
Is this as close as you've come to Michigan in your research?Originally Posted by RDN

OK, I just read your post above. I think you'll find that I did point this out.
Another post you didn't read, maybe?![]()

Because I didn't read page 2, and noone bothered to answer my questions from several pages back.Originally Posted by RDN

OK, here's another angle.
The burqa is a physical manifestation, whether it is worn willingly, or, not, of the oppression of women by men.
In a country that is democratic and gives equal rights to women the burqa is an affront to both men and women.
Let's not forget the purpose of the burqa. It is to protect men from being inflamed by the sight of a women, forcing him to dishonour her.
In other words, men in our western society cannot be trusted to not "dishonour" the lady in question.
I myself, see it as a big "fuck-you and your western values" symbol.

Apparently those women wear g-strings and sexy outfits under those dark clothes. Again this maybe the best to protect us. Would you imagine one of those whales walking down the street with those short pink dresses and g-strings ? it could be lethal for sure causing traffic cahos, sore eyesight, and emotional distress.Originally Posted by Sir Burr

I reminded of the story of Vlad Tepes, Dracula, upon receiving emmisaries from Sultan Mehmed II. The emmisaries paid homage in accordance with their customs. They did not remove their hats. Dracula asked them: "why do you behave in this way? You introduce yourselves to me and then do me dishonor." They answered: "This is the custom with the rulers of our country." The Wallacian prince spoke back: " I, too, would like to strengthen your customs, so that you may adhere to them more so rigidly." It was then that he ordered his men to bring nails and hammers. They secured the hats to the emmisaries' heads as to their beliefs. And Dracula said to them: "Go and tell your master that he may be accustomed to suffer such indignity from his own people. We, however, are not so accustomed. Let him not send either to this country or elsewhere abroad, ambassadors exporting his new customs, for we shall not receive them."
There are some things which define our culture that we should not give ground on. Making women second class citizens, demonizing women and making them scapegoats should not be reintroduced to our culture under the guise of tolerance for a person's customs.
