JMA’s Annual number is out and yes you guessed it,……2015 hottest year on record.

The annual anomaly of the global average surface temperature in 2015 (i.e. the average of the near-surface air temperature over land and the SST) was +0.42°C above the 1981-2010 average (+0.78°C above the 20th century average), and was the warmest since 1891. On a longer time scale, global average surface temperatures have risen at a rate of about 0.71°C per century.

    Five Warmest Years (Anomalies)

    1st. 2015 (+0.42°C), 2nd. 2014 (+0.27°C), 3rd. 1998 (+0.22°C), 4th. 2013, 2010 (+0.20°C)

    And a reminder,……..

Keep your friends close and your enemies closer.

This news article from UK is not even a spoof, you lot really have Been brainwashed on the hot wash cycle...

Global warming might be causing dogs to become depressed, say pet behaviourists

Leading pet behaviourists say the number of depressed and unsettled dogs they have seen in recent months is unprecedented

A boredom epidemic is sweeping through Britain’s dog population – and global warming could be to blame.
And they suggested that the spate of wet winters could be at the root of the problem, as owners cut down on the daily walks that are crucial to keeping dogs’ spirits up.
“I’ve been working with dogs for more than 20 years and I can’t remember a time when they’ve been this bored. I tend to see boredom in bursts but I’m seeing it chronically this winter,” said Carolyn Menteith, a dog behaviourist who was named Britain’s Instructor of the Year in 2015.

Ms Menteith spends much of her time outside walking dogs and has noticed a significant change in the weather in the past five years or so – as cold, crisp winters gradually give way to “constant wet dreariness”.
She – like many scientists and meteorologists – puts this down to climate change and expects to see more bored dogs in the future as global warming unleashes increasingly frequent and intense bouts of winter rainfall.

    18 jan? for January's number?

I do hope you understand by now that you cannot get an average temperature of an entire month until the month has ended. So you suggesting that they would call January 2016 the hottest month ever recorded on January 18th; before the month ended, sounded a bit silly. Do you know how to find an average to a set of numbers?

Now that the month of January 2016 is complete there is news that January 2016 was the hottest January recorded,….and you wouldn’t believe who called it. Your denier buddies over at Whatsupwiththat.

As widely anticipated, global temperatures in January set a record for the month, eclipsing January 1998 as the warmest January in the satellite temperature dataset, according to Dr. John Christy, director of the Earth System Science Center at The University of Alabama in Huntsville. In a sense, that could mean 2016 is in a “race” to see if it will pass 1998 as the warmest year on record.

    Warmest Januaries
How much warmer than seasonal norms
    2016 0.54 C
    1998 0.49 C
    2010 0.48 C
    2013 0.43 C
    2007 0.41 C
    2003 0.31 C
    2005 0.27 C
    2015 0.27 C
    2002 0.21 C
    2004 0.18 C

Pretty soon we’re going to hear climate deniers shouting that they are losing the battle and global temperatures should not be used. Oh wait.

But if the deniers don’t want to use global temperatures maybe they would be happy if Artic Sea Ice was used?

January hits new record low in the Arctic

January Arctic sea ice extent was the lowest in the satellite record, attended by unusually high air temperatures over the Arctic Ocean and a strong negative phase of the Arctic Oscillation (AO) for the first three weeks of the month. Meanwhile in the Antarctic, this year’s extent was lower than average for January, in contrast to the record high extents in January 2015.

Or maybe the deniers would be happy if only CO2 measurements were used?

Atmospheric CO2 Rocketed to 405.6 ppm Yesterday — A Level not Seen in 15 Million Years

Rocketing on past the Pliocene. On February 4 of 2016, a record daily atmospheric CO2 level of 405.66 was recorded at the Mauna Loa Observatory. The Earth hasn’t experienced CO2 levels this high in 15-17 million years.

Or maybe the deniers would be happy if only Sea Level measurements were used?

Facts! One day the deniers will have to face them.

i know its a new religion for you politically correct and you are not going to like this this , but ,
they (and you here ) often announce the warmest this or that etc long before the end of the measured period and you know that ....

Not even true what you say about averages .
They take the highest temp for 3 warmest days, average them and then compare that figure to past data,
They do a similar 3 day thing for the coldest ,
So a month has a warm start and a cold end and gets crowned the hottest AND coldest month ever,

Orwell would have loved it ,and put it in 1984 if he could have.

    I hope I'm wrong
I hope global warming is real, and all the ice melts ,let the coast lines rise forty foot it will be interesting , and I hope i get to wear sandals in winter here.

The SCOTUS has put Obama's climate change agreements on hold, but more significantly this is also the first time in American History that the Court has blocked a Federal Law before it's merits had been ruled on by the lower courts. Usually the Supreme Court only hears appeals that have worked their way up through the Federal Court system, this is unprecedented.

Supreme Court To EPA: Fool Me Once

The U.S. Supreme Court on Tuesday ordered EPA to halt implementation of its Clean Power Plan (CPP) rule—the centerpiece of the Obama administration’s climate strategy—while challenges to the rule work their way through the courts. Legal experts say this is the first time the Court has preemptively stayed a regulation pending legal challenge.

    oops
I’m positive about this and where this case stands,......

If the Supreme Court decides to rule on this case and because of Scalia’s death the outcome is a 4 – 4 decision it reverts back to the federal/lower court ruling.

we should expect to see a number of such cases in which the lower court’s decision is “affirmed by an equally divided Court."

    The Federal Court ruling,…

Obama Just Got Very Good News About His Environmental Policies From A Federal Court

West Virginia v. Environmental Protection Agency may be the most important environmental case in nearly a decade. It’s a challenge, led by a bloc of states, to what the EPA wordily calls its “Carbon Pollution Emissions Guidelines for Existing Stationary Sources: Electric Utility Generating Units.” At issue is whether the EPA violated the law when it sought to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from existing coal plants.

On Thursday, the Obama administration received several pieces of very good news about this case from a federal appeals court laden with wildcard judges. Various parties challenging the EPA rules asked the United States Court of Appeals for the DC Circuit to halt the rule while this litigation is pending — a request that, had it been granted, could have delayed implementation of the rule until well after President Obama leaves office, even if the EPA eventually prevailed in this litigation. The court denied this request, however, in a terse order stating that “petitioners have not satisfied the stringent requirements for a stay pending court review.”

Good news for everyone’s health and bad news for you.

From Penguins: ''Global Warming ??.... this is the biggest fucking iceburg we've ever seen...''

or a lesson from nature : believe empirical evidence and not
pretty manipulated graphs from bought statisticians

An estimated 150,000 Adelie penguins living in Antarctica have died after an iceberg the size of Rome became grounded near their colony, forcing them to trek 60km to the sea for food.
The penguins of Cape Denison in Commonwealth Bay used to live close to a large body of open water. However, in 2010 a colossal iceberg measuring 2900sq km became trapped in the bay, rendering the colony effectively landlocked.
Penguins seeking food must now waddle 60km to the coast to fish. Over the years, the arduous journey has had a devastating effect on the size of the colony.
Since 2011 the colony of 160,000 penguins has shrunk to just 10,000, according to research carried out by the Climate Change Research Centre at Australia’s University of New South Wales. Scientists predict the colony will be gone in 20 years unless the sea ice breaks up or the giant iceberg, dubbed B09B, is dislodged.

So dear global warming astrologists, if temperature is rising as fast as you claim and the ice is all a melting , why isn't the sea level rising crazily ???????????????

    Did Godzilla drink it ?

Your own blushing fanboy NASA has an excuse , I mean explanation,
''The latest data came from a pair of NASA satellites launched in 2002 -- known as the Gravity Recovery and Climate Experiment (GRACE).''

So even if the ices does melt, the land will just absorb it .

    Sorted !!
    stop worrying.

    http://www.examiner.com/article/nasa-discovers-that-climate-change-is-slowing-and-not-hastening-sea-level-rise

One of the effects of climate change, also known as global warming, has said to have been the rise in sea levels. The idea is that as the Earth’s temperatures began to increase the Arctic and Antarctic ice caps would melt, causing the oceans to rise. Unless something was done, cities like Miami and New Orleans would sooner or later be under water. However, AFP reported on Thursday that a new study by NASA has suggested that climate change is actually slowing the rising of the oceans and not hastening it.

Because the Earth has become more parched, partly because humans are pumping out more ground water, the rising oceans are being absorbed by lakes, rivers, and underground acquirers, much like a sponge absorbs water. An extra 3.2 trillion tons of water has thus been soaked up and stored and is not pouring into the streets of coastal cities.
Now, it seems, that the Earth is balancing itself out a little, providing more water on land as it gets melted into the oceans

You're a bit of a bell-end aren't you, quoting the right wing Examiner's spin on the article instead of the article itself, which says:

Miami (AFP) - As glaciers melt due to climate change, the increasingly hot and parched Earth is absorbing some of that water inland, slowing sea level rise, NASA experts said Thursday.

Satellite measurements over the past decade show for the first time that the Earth's continents have soaked up and stored an extra 3.2 trillion tons of water in soils, lakes and underground aquifers, the experts said in a study in the journal Science.

This has temporarily slowed the rate of sea level rise by about 20 percent, it said.
Posting stuff that makes you look foolish is never a wise idea.

    hardly any
most is already in the ocean
stop worrying and enjoy the ride
