I don't know if anyone else made this point but the homosexual age of concent in the UK and most of the EU is 16 and as such old Foley would have commited no criminal offence. However it is highly amuzing to see sepo bible bashers get revealed for the hypocritical scum that they are.

Now, the big problem is this: the U.S. government does have a small set of laws regarding solicitation for sex using the mail, telephone, internet, etc. if the recipient is younger than 18 (specifically Chapter 117, 18 U.S.C. 2422(b)) which reads as follows:

Sec. 2422. Coercion and enticement

(a) Whoever knowingly persuades, induces, entices, or coerces any
individual to travel in interstate or foreign commerce, or in any
Territory or Possession of the United States, to engage in
prostitution, or in any sexual activity for which any person can be
charged with a criminal offense, or attempts to do so, shall be
fined under this title or imprisoned not more than 20 years, or
both.
(b) Whoever, using the mail or any facility or means of
interstate or foreign commerce, or within the special maritime and
territorial jurisdiction of the United States knowingly persuades,
induces, entices, or coerces any individual who has not attained
the age of 18 years, to engage in prostitution or any sexual
activity for which any person can be charged with a criminal
offense, or attempts to do so, shall be fined under this title and
imprisoned not less than 5 years and not more than 30 years.

Foley's problems are twofold: the page wasn't 17 when Foley was sending emails to him in Louisiana (where the AOC is 17; the page was 16 or younger) and this causes Foley to be in violation of the aforementioned Federal law as well.

I can't quite remember what it is, but in Australia where the age of consent is 16, there are conditions to that which are applied to the other party. If the other party is in a position of power then the age of consent is higher.

As well here if there's an age difference from 5-10 years between the older person and the minor it makes it a felony in most states (what we loving call cradle robbing). The age difference between Foley and the pages can be considered criminal behavior.

. Are there differences in re the hetro/ homo ages of concent? In the UK it used to be 16 hetro/18 homo but that was ammended as it was considered discriminatory and in breach of the Human Rights act.
