Very good point but the fact is that Christians and Jews "cherrypick" their doctrine and their scripture, unlike Muslims. If it is in the Koran, or Hadith it is to be followed without argument. The arguments used by Christians and Jews that certain practices were for "that time" only, does not wash with Muslims. That's what makes them so dangerous. 8th century laws and punishments in the 21st century.

Paterson is volunteering another site on state owned property for the Islamic Center.
He says there needs to be greater dialogue to try and soothe everyone’s fears.
The governor’s office says Paterson cannot give away state property, but rather is looking to be a mediator between the two sides to reach some sort of compromise.
“I don’t have any objection to it being built there, but I’m very sensitive to the desire of those who are adamant against it to see something else worked out,” said the governor. “And frankly if the sponsors who are looking for property anywhere at a distance that would be such that it would accommodate a better feeling among the people who are frustrated I would look into trying to provide them with the state property they would need.”
“While we have a tremendous amount of respect for our governor, and we are always interested in hearing what our leaders have to say, and what their ideas and proposals are. But this has always been about serving Lower Manhattan,” said proposed mosque developer Sharif El-Gamal.

One prominent mosque supporter also rejected the governor’s proposal.
He says Paterson’s remarks validate the idea that all Muslims are responsible for what terrorists did on September 11, 2001.
