Karma

I not interested in notions of anthropomorhic jealous Gods watching over us with heaven and hell awaiting us as an eternal fate on judgement day. but I am interested in the idea of Karma as a force that can shape our lives. It is something I almost feel as tangible sometimes. Is it an illusion generated by the human consciousness or is it possible that there is a force external to the human psyche that will bring ill luck into your life if you act with selfishness and malice. We have the legal system to ensure crime is punished but it would be nice if there was also a mystical force that would bring selfish and malicious acts back on their perpetrators. I think logically that there probably is not and that when we act with moral weakness then it is the guilt we feel at our own actions that is its own punishment. But sometimes I feel that when I have acted without good faith that I invite misfortune and it seems to manifest itself tangibly. Could be just a coincidence, could be my imagination or it could be that there really is a force that will bring misfortune upon you when you act in bad faith. What do you think?

It could be just a question of odds. Say your are a selfish hardass who has managed to bully your way to a position of power. A downfall is almost inevitable, but perhaps more because of the sheer amount of enemies you made on your way, than any karmick force in nature.

All the same, I do like to believe that good begets good, if for no other reason that acting good makes me feel good. Rather self-fulfilling I guess.

yes and what goes around ,comes around or back to haunt one . rich people feel a need to leave something behind for society after getting rich . having a sense of doing the right thing .
why do bad people have that look on their face ,,that evil look in their eyes .
society seems to have a certain standard and if one is seen to trash that standard then things may come back to bite you on the arse. the great train robbers with ronnie biggs would have been real heroes if they hadn't killed the train driver . revenge is demanded. people who are really greedy or selfish and tend to isolate themselves from society have that mean look when confronted with their greed. for some, greed is quite normal and to see a starving woman with no milk in her breast to feed her baby is of no concern to that person .
are some people more human than others or is it that we are programmed. ?
ned kelly was public enemy no1 ,yet he was loved by many.
doin the right thing ye . but doing good and expecting good to come to you because you have been good sounds yukky . if you are hungry , is it ok to go out and nick some grub ? you need to eat . and will you have bad karma because you nicked a sheep from a multi-national company. think we should all strive to do what's right because it is possible even if we lose something.
question is if we cheat someone ,,do we cheat ourselves ? the self.
