It should be the left hand only. The right is for eating.

I'm multi culti. Knife/fork, fork/spoon, chopsticks/ricebowl or hands. I can do the lot like a native of anywhere I've been or got to know people from.
In Chinese restaurant, the ones the Chinese us in England, the waitress always took away my chopsticks and gave me a knife and fork. Half of them jumped out of their skin when I told them I wanted to use the chopsticks. That alone would not have been so shocking but the fact I told them I was Chinese said it in Mandarin made them look twice. Started some interesting conversations.
