    Massive Defeat

But even before the polls closed, Obama administration officials and Ms Coakley’s supporters were blaming each other

This is a massive blow to Bambam.
    Obama-care is effectively stillborn.

    Cap and trade is DOA.

    OOPS!

^ There is a thread on this.

Yes, Boon, there is the "blame" syndrome. More dysfunction. The 'blaming' is worse than the losing. The Dems, once again, may be imploding themselves.

How'd I get thrown into this? Other than gloating that it's finally payback time for the left-wing, moonbat, commie, terror-sympathizing Jane Fonda wannabees!

True, he has another three years to keep screwing the country. Losing the seat held by the Lion of the Senate is a mega-blow for the Dems, and it must greatly burden BO. I'm sure he delayed the SoU address so he could gloat over a HC bill, but that ain't gonna happen anytime soon now. What's he gonna tell the people? We spent trillions of your dollars, we did not find you jobs, we raised taxes on little things like the poor everyman's cigarettes, we got into bed with the health insurers, pharmas and unions to get backing for our HC reform (oh, sorry, no tort reform, docs, and no portability), and we've got plans to spend another trillion to get about 30 million folks insured. Then, we're gonna tax the crap out of those big, bad banks even tho they repaid their TARP bills with added dividends and interest -- oh, but we won't ding protected cos like GM, AIG and Freddie & Fannie. Most importnatly, did I keep America safe? We libbies know what's best for you stupid people, eh?

Brown hopefully will not take any crap, but will be sensible, not a totally negative pol. Coakley helped the Dems croak and they better wake up and start listening to the people. For shame, losing the bluest of blue states to an upstart, little known state senator. Haven't seen Pelosi/Reid statments yet, but they must be in panic mode. They push thru the Senate HC bill and there will be H to pay.

Told you so, Obama and this Congress are losers.

    Oh, and Happy Anniversay, Bambam.

    Massive defeat.
Bambam is in serious trouble. He's going to have to have a rebirth.

The BO agenda may be slowed with Brown in the Senate.

But, trying to be objective, even if the Dems lose a lot of seats in the House and Senate in the mid-terms next month, Obama has 3 years to adapt, if poll numbers continue to be low.

Remember Clinton completely changing his policies under Triangulation after the 1994 mid-terms.

I'm not trying to paint Scott Browns victory as good news for the Dem's (it ain't), neither trying to say they didn't stuff it up ('cus they did). But a bit of perspective is in order-

BO has three years left, and a still solid majority in both houses of Congress- though it seems you've got to have a crushing majority in the Senate to 'get things done' cleanly.

Clinton era, HC reform actually collapsed in a heap. It didn't really seem to do him much harm. Doubt that will happen this time though.

BO has more options than I had initially realised. Easiest one is to get the legislation passed before Brown is sworn in- because it's already passed both Houses of Congress. Sure, the Republicans & RW blogosphere will scream blue murder- but thats all they've ever done since the word go. Kinda like the boy that cried wolf.

Looks certain that health care reform and cap & trade will go down in flames. Again the dems manage to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. Coakley was a disaster.

I think you're setting yourself up for some disappointment there. Bills have already passed both houses- now the Dem's just need to iron out the differences in the two Bills, and pass the final thing thru Congress- and they've comfortably got the numbers. Commonsensically, they'll probably speed up the process because of their Senate seat loss in Mass., but thats just an ejumacated guess.

Put it this way- if you were Obama, and you knew if you dropped your biggest campaign promise now you were almost certainly a one term President, what would you do?

^You're really missing the significance of this election.
For the dem's to loose that seat is unprecedented.
It was a distinct referendum on Bammy's policies.
    Bambam is in big trouble.
Sure he has plenty of time to re-invent himself.
Somehow I think it will be unlikely for him to make any convincing conversion.

The mid-term elections in November are looking promising for the GOP as well

It's dead and you know it. Read and weep:

"Rep. Barney Frank is not a wobbly moderate in a marginal district, but a liberal Democrat who has been supportive of the health care push. And that's why this statement below, which essentially rules out all of the options being discussed for pushing through Obamacare, deals a potentially fatal blow to the legislation."

I absolutely don't- I think a HC reform bill will be passed. But this statement, strait from the Potus mouth has taken me by surprise-

"Here's one thing I know and I just want to make sure that this is off the table: The Senate certainly shouldn't try to jam anything through until Scott Brown is seated," the president told ABC News' George Stephanopoulos in an exclusive interview. "People in Massachusetts spoke. He's got to be part of that process."

    And the Senate leader-

"We're not going to rush into anything," the Senate majority leader said on Capitol Hill Wednesday. "As you've heard, we're going to wait until the new senator arrives before we do anything more on health care. There are many different things that we can do to move forward on health care, but we're not making any of those decisions now."

President Obama, Democrats: Not Going to Rush Health Care, Scott Brown Heads to Capitol - ABC News

Thats good enough for me to believe that the 'fast track' option has been rejected.
