Well if you want it straight, I get rid of butterfly as a mod, he's too confrontational as a poster to get much credibility as a MOD...nothing against the guy.
Other than that carry on, you are always going to get some stick from some posters due to previous history. If a post is not right in your opinion delet or move, ok if someone does'nt relise they are in the issues section, you might ruffle a few feathers, but I can't understand how anyone would be upset about some slightly witty one liner being deleted, it's not the end of the world really is it and it's not like they dont have the other sections to play in.
I have more than the average number of arm and legs
A little bit of fun is ok, but mostly it's just as NickA says: "I've had posts deleted that were pointless, inoffensive, off topic and (maybe) slightly humorous." Digressing is ok, also, thoughI tend to be stricter on the first page to give the topic a chance to take off. However, when the banter between 2 posters takes over a thread, it's not ok.Originally Posted by friscofrankie

Deleting it was chickenshit and seriously OTT in my opinion. LIGHTEN THE FUCK UP!![]()

Nice to see this all out in the open.
Could we be in for an online sacking?
Rather like Unwell. No credibility at all.Originally Posted by Lily

You know I didnt mean RC, but I can see that I could have worded that better.
My bust ... I didn't realize until now what I just did ... I meant raycarey (RC), not randomchances (RC). I'm a total fokkin ape today now ain't I ?![]()
Growing pains.
While I enjoy the freedoms that TD affords (Hell, if I acted like myself on other boards half my posts would be gone, gone, GONE) I can see where some extra moderation in the "Issues" forum could be called for. Keeping folks on subject, a little less personal bickering would help folks stay on track. I have always avoided these types of forums; not from lack of interest, but most of them turn into pissing contests. I find that boring as hell.
We're not gonna "change the world" on the discussion forum and I have yet to see any one of the more prolific posters change their mind becase of something written here. Still, serious discussion is a fun/interesting/entertaining waste of time; keeping it serious can be a real pain in the ass.
As this (sub)forum gets off the ground (really getting alot more posts in this area lately) I can see where the posting of "Rules, Regulations & Guidelines" can consume a fair amount of the personal bandwidth.
Fuckin' Stroller's got his hands full, tryin' to corall the bunch of frustrated malcontents lookin' for a decent forum to waste an hour, day or lifetime discussing the issues of the day. Bit like a barroom where we all know you should never discuss politics but the subject seems to drift that way...
While SK saying, "your Momma wears combats Boots" in reply to an arguement isn't necessarily on topic, in a debate pissing off your opponent is a very effective strategy. Once they're pissed off, you gotta deal with it. So where do you draw the line?
I'd like to see this area take off. I really would. We are all stuck on this planet and current affairs and "Issues" affect us all. I think everyone here has an opinion, some, an agenda.
No one wants to see the silliness and fractious behavio(u)r witnessed in the Captian's Lounge or (God forbid), the Members area. Be perfectly honest, what I find most offensive about the "moderation policies" is the constant discussion of them.
One of the greatest political commentators of our time Hunter S. Thompson (whether or not you agreed with him), was an irreverent, confrontational, funny kinda guy that often digressed from the main subject matter. Not sayin' any of you fuckers got that kinda talent, but some of the folks here are right funny and to the point.
Without retracting anything said previously; I gotta say bringing moderation to even a small part of this forum is gonna be tough and demanding job. There will be some over (and under) moderation. I think what you're tryin' to do is good. Since I ain't saddled with the task, it's easy for me to criticize.
Stroller, you took the job; do it as you see fit. Listen to your posters, tell 'em to go fuck themselves when you see fit. Hell, it's only been a month and no matter what the complaints, I see the "Issues" forum popping up more and more on my first page of new posts. Hopefully there'll be less discussion of "Moderation" and more of "Issues" as time goes by.
Growing pains.
My last post on the subject.
.....
Now.
Should Hilary run for Pres? You know she wants to.
Will she get popped for gettin' head in the Oral Office too?
Or has the American public learned it's lesson yet?

Fuking hell, the man's on fire today.
Have you employed a proof reader at your gaff frankie.

I think it's important the man knows that although I have crticisms, I have to supporet what he is doing. Introducing rules in a forum wth few or none has got to be a daunting task.
Plus last night I an angry SOB hell the ol' lady told me if I didn;t calm down she was goig home to momma. Dude's got my respect and support.
I can proof read, just rarely do.

I like the freedom we enjoy here. Trouble I foresee is moderators like stroll and butter are single minded fanatics with agendas.
They are being very restrained right now.
But mark my words as time goes by their tentacles will grow the restraint will disappear.
This thread is a but a slow lead in for stroller to express his OCD behavior.
We should really keep an eye on Butterbutt too.
Don't worry mate, we are very unlike you and your neo-con friends when you took over the bearpit....Originally Posted by Mr Earl

Btw, please don't confuse me with Butterfly, though we're friendly with each other, we have different opinions and posting styles.

I dont see anything wrong with Stroller or Butterfly.Stroller deleted some of my posts and informed me,so I have no problem there.
Mr.Earl it is not necessary that every soul in this universe should agree with you and if they dont it does'nt make them bad.
well, well, well, talking behind my back while I am gone chasing new girls in Pattaya. Thank you all for your support
Let me answer simply: what is a mod ?
I don't really see myself as a mod and I must have deleted only a few silly posts that were off topic. Myself, like others (FF), I don't believe in modding. I am a liberal, I think people should be left saying what they want to say even when it's offensive. Yes I am confrontational, and I don't see this as a conflict of interests. I think most people have the wrong expectations about what is a mod. That's explain why all those TV losers are on a power trip when they become a mod. I don't want to be a credible mod and I have no intention to earn credibility by doing this. I am not on a fucking power trip.
The only reason I took the job here is to prevent "Stroll" from running this place like a boot camp. He knows it, I know it, we all knew it. It was clear from the beginning that was the reason I joined, not sure why so many conveniently forgot about it. I am "assistant" mod, nothing else, even though I have the buttons (but I rarely use them).
End of Discussion

PS: You are all fucking BANNED !!!

Stroll said he'd take care of the one problem that occured for me. He's been fair with me thus far. I don't expect a totally even hand in the Issues forum. A good mod recognizes good sport and good humor and knows when to allow a bit of flavor to the mix and when to throttle back.
Now let's see if you fk it up.![]()

Miserable ogre deciding evidence rarely answers the opinion realistically
Mr Moderator: Please move this to the acronym game thread.

How could 'evidence' 'answer' an 'opinion'?
I start to wonder if you are a native English speaker or not, SK.![]()
