I think it is the humane thing to do.
If a horse or a dog was suffering most people would have no problem putting them down, why should a human and more importantly someone you love have to spend the last moments of their live in pain.
To keep someone alive who is in extreme pain and has no chance of getting better is selfish as you are doing it for your own benefit and not theirs.
Using the word "killed" is a little harsh being related to euthanasia in my opinion.
At the end of the day this is legal in some parts of the world and I am not against it, thinking of this situation you have to put yourself into the postion of being in such a condition which is hard in itself.
Who are you to decide if a human being should have a right to end their lives after a long period of suffering? That is pretty selfish really.
I've seen my Nana suffer with cancer for a long period of time, she had allsorts of tests done to her God bless her soul and even just seeing this poor woman fight made me suffer myself. Because most of us ourselves haven't been in this postion who are we to judge? I'm all for letting each individual in this world have their own rights with euthanaisa and I cant see any bad effects of this, it is just putting a stop to suffering that is not needed and with the will of the person in question.
Choosing against euthanaisa you are only against the will of the person in question and that to be fair is not right.
Welcome to the jungle!
I agree if we put pets down why not our loved ones. I watched my mom die over a six month period, there was no point other than time and a few good days.
I am totally against it.
Action should be taken now.
The way these teenagers speed around on their motorcycles killing themselves is tragic. Often under the influence of drugs or alcohol as well.
The government is responsible you cannot just blame it on the youth in asia.
Should have spelled it the right way but still a nice variation on an oldy but a goody.![]()

If I am ever in a vegetative state, laying in bed, staring at the wall, unable to move, unable to talk, unable to feed myself or use the toilet.
I want to be euthanized.
We should all get a living will. It can be put into writing beforehand, but unfortunately, there are a lot of legalities.

My grandmother sufferd from mouth cancer for 2 years but we didn't give up hope. She died.
I think God gave us life and he is the one who should take it.
Thats what my mom had a living will, she had me fly back to sign it. I never thought of pulling the plug, but when she went there was no attempt to bring her back.
It was on reflection that I came to support this issue.

so if you really believe that, do you also believe that if god makes you sick that you shouldn't get any treatment as god will make you better?Originally Posted by Mhz

Euthanasia - , one might wish it had been applied to the inbred fuckwits who emerge from the US these days. But it's unethical.
Lucky you didn't give up hope.Originally Posted by Mhz

Old topic ... my answer is the same: The harms and risks of legalizing euthanasia, to individuals and to society, far outweigh any benefits. Abuse cannot be prevented if it is legalized. However, I do support the use of "Living Wills" . So I guess I'm OK with the decision of the patient but I vehemently oppose placing the power to make this decision in the hands of the physician. I believe it violates their oath. A big problem is that doctors routinely misdiagnose life threatening diseases.

I agree with SK that it should be out of the hands of the docters. It could be argued that keeping a loved one alive artificialy when there is no hope of survival is more for the benifit of remaining family members who just can not let go than the benifit of the pacient.
I could also be argued if you are inclined to belive in those things that keeping a loved one alive artificialy when there is no hope of survival is actually against the will of God.

Rest easy my friend, when the time comes you'll prolly go whilst straining on the toilet seat or climbing the stairs in a rumpy-pumpy hotel following the dimpled thighs of a charmless grandmother who is wearing a denim mini-skirt 2 sizes too small and far more makeup than was ever required to cover her acne scars.

I do not know if it is legal or not in Switzerland but it is widely used by now...
One association was created, their name is EXIT (google should know this...)
they will study your case and assist your death if they see that it is irreversible.
They lately made a movie following one guy with a brain Tumor growing, the guy saw his parents suffering badly in his past from this same illness and saw them become assisted vegetables, what he decided he does not want to be...
The movie follows the guy over a period of more then a year with different visits to the doctor but his case is getting worse, before he loosed control of his brain, he goes around to each person he was knowing, telling bye bye and books the final day... Looked like peacefull, no big suffering...
The way EXIT is dealing, it will be a kind of suicide, they give you 3 pills to be taken by yourself in few steps totaling near 30 minutes, you will get asleep and not wake up anymore...
============================
But if you live over here, you can may be give a 3 K baht killing order on your self person and the contracter will shoot you down for this...

The think we are most sure is that we all will go one day, any of us...![]()

There are people on assisted mechanism systems in many hospitals around the world, it cost huge sums of money to keep them " alive " but in other places, a few bucks could save and give a life to kids lacking food, water, medicine...

age old debate...
I understand in Germany the chosen method of euthanasia is to be eaten!!
Surely they are being killed, that's the whole point.Iam totally against it.Someone suffering from a terminal illness or incurable condition is not supposed to be killed. What do you all say???
Looking at all of the available evidence it would seem that 'god' couldn't actually care less how much anyone suffers; or if 'god' does then he/she/it are not in a position to do anything about it. Benevolent or omnipotent - but I really can't see how anyone can claim both qualities.I believe in God but I believe he wouldn't want us to suffer any more than we need to.
To force someone else to endure a hopeless painful existence because of one's own beliefs is just a tad selfish in my opinion. That said, euthanasia should be at the request of the person suffering - you shouldn't be able to volunteer someone on an Internet site by entering their postcode.
Back off Margaret, you're on a sugar rush!
