Be nice, guys, you got all the other forums to take the piss.

Thanks buddy.... I'll refrain from judging you until I see more of your posts. In the meantime, I'll enjoy myself here as this forum seems to be a little more "open" than some. Catch you down the track a bit....Originally Posted by Begbie
Why is this in "Issues" ? totally inapropriate. Shouldn't this be in The Captain Lounge ? ok let me try my new mods button I have here. Stroll you are with me on this ?
Well, it's ok with me to sit in "Issues".
There's a fair amount of joking, but noone complained.
Perhaps it should be in the "games" room. Stroller might consider moving there as well. We need somebody to pick up the skittles in the arcade.
I suggest you go and play in there, Begbie.
"Issues" isn't the place for the comments you dropped in here.
Excuse me for saying so, but methinks Begbie has a few "issues" of his own to deal with..... so do I get to read the comments on my topic?Originally Posted by stroller
An easy way to up your post count is in the 'games room'.
You may catch up with begbie in there.
Ok - I get the picture! You're trying to match-make me and Begbie???Originally Posted by stroller

Why do I want to read this moved thread elsewhere. If you think it is unsuitable for YOUR PERSONAL PLACE (subforum) here on TD, why should I see it show up in another place.Originally Posted by stroller
I TOTALLY disagree with this practice. The thread was within your domain, why shove it off somewhere else? IMHO, all it is doing is promoting verbal slugfests between those originally here on TD and those still encountering each other from TV. I thought 'this place' was an attempt to cool the differences between Forums and the participants. All you're doing is moving it out of realm of your responsibility, and I call that passing the buck.

Since you are obviously a member of the "MEMBERS" forum Curious George - would you say the said topic has benefited by being moved out of the public eye?Originally Posted by Curious George
OH Dear, curious george, I can see the benifit of a serious issues forum where topics are kept on topic and issues are actually discussed, to do this this forum does need to be moderated, ie posts of Bush is a cnut don't really cut the cake, even though they maybe true, I have to admit that I made stroller and his other mods on this forum move out any threads that didn't follow their rules, we do not edit posts here, especially posts that may have been up for several months, if a post is that bad it gets dumped straight away in the bin and stays there for 2 days so mods can view it and then it is hidden from them and stored another 2 days to make sure it was a fair deletion, the posters are the most important thing any forum can have, without posters you might aswell just open a web page.
This forum "issues" will be moderated and things will have to stay on topic, pretty much the same as the top half of the board, now I like the top half of the board and follow that quite well, but this section has about as much interest for me as the games room and sports room, so I don't really follow them.
The main reason some of the topics from here had to be moved was due to there wandering off of topic or abuse, if a newbie joins and goes thru the old threads on this section and see's the bad stuff then thinks it's alright for him to carry on in the same manner then it will cause conflicts, ie it was alright then so why isn't it now? the easiest way to avoid this was to move the stuff out of here, no editing and no deletions.
I don't like the idea that 1 mod can suspend posting rights for 7 days. Who guards the guards and all that. It's oh so easy for a mod to get involved in a thread and to forget which hat they are wearing.....That said, it's really got nothing to do with me, so do what you bloody well like but don't come running to me crying when you fall off and graze your knees.....A number of topics from "Issues" have been moved to "Members Only", the following applies from now on:
.
.
.
.
Moderating actions:
Editing, deleting of posts, moving unsuitable threads, suspending posting rights for up to 7 days - at the discretion of any mod;
suspending for up to 30 days, or banning additional usernames of a single person - requires agreement of 2 mods.
Moderating will be as little as possible, as much as necessary."
Back off Margaret, you're on a sugar rush!
it is only from the issues forum, that is it, I really doubt if you would notice if you got banned with the hours that you spend in the issues forum replying to Bush is a cnut threadsOriginally Posted by danbo
I think this only the second time I've been in here - the first was when I took the wrong turn-off at that roundabout near the Food and Drink forum....
Ha ha Danbo.... well I never meant to get political, so early on in the piece.... but, doesn't this forum profess to be a politically unbiased and un-modererated space where those of 'other' persuasions can vent their voices???????????Originally Posted by danbo
Maybe not?!
Since this part of the TD Forum has been relegated to 'issues' that are moderated using Thai Visa standards, I have no further comment!Originally Posted by squig

Feel free to start a topic about the moderating standards here, but refrain from making off-topic comments in existing threads.Originally Posted by Curious George
That applies to a few other posts as well.
I'll start deleting posts now.
it has been moved to the captains lounge.Originally Posted by squig

Are the mods going to have a "Posts Deleted Count" as well as a "Post Count" so we can see who the most assiduous mod is?Originally Posted by stroller
