    Gary Glitter ---- AGAIN !!!

Gary Glitter 'to get £100,000 royalties' for song used in Hewlett Packard advert

Gary Glitter, the convicted paedophile and singer, is expected to receive up to £100,000 in royalties for a song used in an advert, it has been disclosed.

Hewlett Packard (HP), the computer firm, used Glitter's 1973 hit Do You Wanna Touch Me to promote TouchSmart TV, a new touch-screen model.
The song features in a marketing campaign, with television adverts being screened all over America.
Although the song used in the advert is a 1982 cover version sung by Joan Jett, it was originally written by Glitter who is entitled to collects the royalties.
The songs lyrics include: "Ev'ry growin' boy needs a little joy, all you do is sit an' stare/Beggin' on my knees, baby won't you please
/Run your fingers thru' my hair/My my my whisky & Dry, don't it make you feel so fine?/Right or wrong, don't it turn you on/Can't you see we're wastin' time?/ Do you wanna touch? - Yeah! Do you wanna touch? - Yeah! Do you wanna touch me there? Yeah!"
Glitter, 64, whose real name is Paul Francis Gadd, returned to the UK in August after spending 27 months in a Vietnam jail for abusing two young girls in 2006.
At least 19 countries have refused to admit him, giving him little choice but to return to Britain where he is currently on the sex offenders register and in hiding.
The decision by the HP to use the song could mean the disgraced singer could become even richer if the adverts lead to surge in internet downloads.
US campaigners have demanded the company withdraw the television adverts.
Evin Daly, President of Child Abusewatch.net said the advert was produced with such poor taste and "it shows a distinct lack of sensitivity."
Experts say it will earn Glitter about £100,000.
Glitter already receives an income of about £200,000 for his back catalogue of '70s hits.
His records are never played on UK radio any more following his child sex convictions, but they remain popular in the US.
The computer advert is not being shown on British television but can be viewed online.
Hewlett Packard said it pulled the internet links as soon as it was told of the Glitter connection.

yes, more than you could ever imagine.

Although the song used in the advert is a 1982 cover version sung by Joan Jett
Hate to burst your bubble, but most Yanks have no idea who Gary Glitter is.

His records are never played on UK radio any more following his child sex convictions, but they remain popular in the US.
Bullshit. I never heard of the guy until I came to Thailand a few years ago.

He should convert to Islam, that's already been covered on the https://teakdoor.com/thailand-and-asi...even-year.html (Indonesian cleric 'plans to marry seven-year-old girl') thread.

It would also let people say never mind they're not all terrorists/pedos/etc.

But that doesn't mean everybody knows who wrote it -- and not knowing Gary Glitter doesn't make someone insular.

300,000,000 people going about their lives should hang their heads in shame. Yeah right. What we need is more 'responsible' shrill people to shout in our ears and remind us of the guilt trips we left behind at the church. I SHOULD FEEL GUILTY BECAUSE I DON'T KNOW WHO GARRY GLITTER IS! I'M NOT A RESPONSIBLE CITIZEN OF THE WORLD! Does that make someone somewhere feel better?

Glitter gets a good portion of his royalties from the song Rock and Roll Part 2 being played at American Football league games and both Democratic and Republican Party functions.

There is no American Football League in existence that I know of. The AFL was absorbed by the NFL. The National Football League no longer allows it to be played at their events.

I read somewhere that Gary Glitter sold all the royalties to his music just before his arrest, needing the money for the court case and knowing they would be worth nothing after the case.

    No, no, no, no, no.

The BBC says Americans adore Mr Glitter.

    It must be true.

    We're insular, too.
