Dawkins and the story of LOT
Dawkins is very good here. A muslim believes that Mohamed flew to heaven on a winged horse.
I couldn't find the "bible vs. evolution" thread that has many posts. I did a search.
But this is here, and it's good and short:

Please watch this talk by Stephen Pinker.
To try and answer the question will go on forever.
Only the man Has the answer buried in his mind
Covered over by generations of brain-washing and conditioning by authority.
You can see this with different cultures
But there have been some men who have seen through all that illusion
Total acceptance of who/what you are. And i'm nothing.
When looking at the sky at night; for a moment or 2 , i feel at one with it all;
And as soon as thought enters with 'wow' it moves away slowly,
So what i'm sayin is,, attention, without any shadow of self/thought/ image
occupying your mind; only vision, listening, smell is all you need.
Then you won't ask the question ,, believe in god or not as both are meaningless,
a game for thought to play with forever.

Not another pointless fucking black heart bump.
FFS get a grip man. You tried it once and it didn't work.
die everyday. and with meditation there is no 'you'. its absent which means attention is there. and you're wide awake. die to every moment.Originally Posted by Munted

And that manufactured thought breeds fear.
Thought is the past butting in, coming from generations of memory.
But we're all so attached to memory and our possessions which we have become.
I call this the monkey business in humans. Get up stand up.wake up.
True that Bill, the moment when that incessant chatter in ones mind ceases is a real moment of bliss and it can be realised through meditation. Explore nothingness and your journey into death will be as if you are returning to a pleasant place.
as far as i can make out, it doesn't matter if we're Atheist, Agnostic, Buddhist, Christian or Muslim, whatever label one identifies with is separatist.
I am - you are. we - they.
This is the world we live in, the corridor of opposites, the judging and comparing at every turn.
Walking down the road, can thought be silent, only observing what's there, like watching a movie.
Cause thought represents the past and interferes with the present.
But really all this has to begin in the classroom.
Us old boys will struggle with it because we are conditioned to think constantly.
Fooker never takes a holiday.
DrBob said something about the Greeks and self knowledge and that helping one to 'fit in' to society.
What I'm sayin is the opposite. Cause society is corrupt. Doesn't matter where it is,, man corrupts it. So we have to reject all that.
We come from nature and to nature we will return, one life and then the final curtain and dust.
Nobody wants to die, they are cling-ons. Don't want to let go because of the unknown that awaits. Reality clicks in. The vacant look of fear.
All the waiting for the prized after-life has arrived or has it.
The priest or imam arrives to wish you safe journey to heaven.
Thought has its place in problem solving, in the work place, in action etc.
And too much time on the petty self. The manufactured self ffs. 2nd.hand.
Anyway , peace.

Zombiesque.
If you are not scared of death, why do you need to run from life - thinking is a crucial part of it - and basically lose your mind to find refuge from - what, fear?
Many propose we are just transient animals, then go on to philosophise about spirituality, karma, god knows what.
Live and die, ffs.
yea true but authority corrupts it.Originally Posted by FlyFree

Yes the after-life has created some super duper business deals.

True that, often though that phrase is used to justify a pathetic hedonistic / narcissistic lifestyle which will result in a shit-load of suffering along the way.Originally Posted by FlyFree

Yes suffering ingrained into Christianity.
We worship, drink the blood and eat the flesh in communion.
Meditation can only 'be' when the self, image of oneself, thought,,, is absent.
In this arena any shadow of self is memory operating which is the Past.
And this is the only way that a human can uncondition the manufactured self.
And get back to the Garden.
Put all the labels in the bin.
I am a mussie,, jew, atheist, whatever the phuc,, put em in the bin. Die to it.
