Started to put this on the space thread, but then decided it might be disruptive. I’ve become very interested in the concept of cosmic consciousness so a statement like this from Michio Kaku really got my attention.

They've been here for ages.

Longer than we have been around. But, why now?

Quite arrogant to think that a tiny mote of dust in the in the middle of interstellar nowhere inhabited by simpleton creatures hellbent on destroying themselves and their home would interest anything at all out there. Especially during one's miniscule lifespan of a few short decades.


I fully believe in science, and that there are probably/possibly very simple microbial lifeforms around the hydrothermal vents of places like Europa and Enceladus, but it literally comes down to time and space. The distances between the homes of evolved intelligent lifeforms are far too great, and the chance of them evolving and existing in the same timeframe, as opposed to a few millennia or millions of years apart in the 13+ billions years of universal existence is just about zero. There are no beings watching us.

I don’t think anything from beyond is watching us. Nothing is flying around visiting Earth for the reason you mention above.

I think something we have yet to fathom exists along side of us and always has.
