Report: Israel seizes the largest area of land in the West Bank in three decades
When Israel does this, past cases show that it is because the land needs to be prepared for construction, says correspondent.

A large area of the Jordan Valley in the occupied West Bank has been seized by Israel.
This is according to a report from the organization Peace Now, where they write that the Israeli authorities on June 25 declared 12.7 square kilometers of land in the West Bank to be Israeli.
It is the largest incorporation of land in the West Bank since 1993, when the first Oslo Accords were signed.
According to the organization's report, there are now large signs on the land area saying that you are not allowed to enter the area.
This is according to Allan Sørensen, Middle East correspondent for Kristeligt Dagblad.
"And when Israel does that, past cases show that it is because the land needs to be prepared for construction. That is, the construction of new, Jewish settlements, he adds.
The Israeli military's civil administration, which handles civilian affairs in the West Bank, issued a statement on June 25 that the area was turned into state land, according to a document from the authority, writes CNN.

The Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank are illegal, according to the United Nations.
The Palestinian territories of the West Bank are politically controlled by the Palestinian Authority, which is dominated by the Fatah party. There have been no parliamentary elections in the Palestinian territories since 2006.

Geographically, the area that Israel has seized is half an hour's drive north of the city of Jericho in the Jordan Valley, which winds between the West Bank and Jordan.
"The current Israeli government led by Benjamin Netanyahu is the most right-wing nationalist government Israel has ever had. Who, purely ideologically, really fights for a hefty and massive expansion of the settlements in the West Bank, says Allan Sørensen.
Peace Now: Could undermine the formation of a future Palestinian state
The Israeli human rights group Peace Now, which monitors illegal Israeli settlement expansion, criticized the move in a statement on Wednesday, saying the seizure makes it even more difficult to establish "a Palestinian state next to Israel."
- It does so because a given future Palestinian state will simply lack land to arise on. There may be these Israeli settlements in between Palestinian plots of land and prevent a Palestinian state, says Allan Sørensen.
The UN and several Western countries support a two-state solution in which the West Bank would be part of a future independent Palestinian state.
"For those who argue for a two-state solution, the fear has always been that Israel would encroach on too large areas, so that a Palestinian state would ultimately not be cohesive," says Allan Sørensen.

Israel's finance minister, Bezalel Smotrich, has previously said that his life's goal is to prevent the establishment of a Palestinian state.
So he is betting the entire pot as a single minister in Netanyahu's government to make this settlement project even bigger than before. And so far, it must be said that he has succeeded. Because Netanyahu gives him the green light, Allan Sørensen adds.

It is not possible to conclude that it is absolutely certain that settlements will be built in all or part of the seized areas to which the Peace Now report refers.
- But when land areas are included, it is typically because there is already a building plan for the area. This is also the case in the area between the settlements of Maaleh Adumim and Kedar, which were seized earlier this year, says Allan Sørensen.
Just another step into a plan that is obvious to any rational observer. The Final Solution to the Palestinian question. Invade and occupy every square meter of Gaza and the West Bank followed by the building of permanent Jewish settlements thoughout the entire areas.
All done with impunity under the Aegis of the "West". A fantastic plan that will once and for all end the Palestinian question, provide a huge boost to Isreali economy and leave the West with a strong democratic ally in the middle east.
Just wait and watch.

Meta to remove the word 'Zionist' from selected content
OFMads Vestergaard
If the word "Zionist" on Meta is used to refer to Jews or Israelis instead of referring to the term as a political movement, the company may remove the content in the future.
This is according to Meta, which is behind Facebook and Instagram, according to The Guardian.
In a blog post, the company writes that it will remove content that "attacks Zionists when it does not explicitly refer to the political movement," but when it is instead used as an anti-Semitic stereotype or to incite violence against Jews or Israelis.
A Zionist is a follower of Zionism, which forms the ideological basis of the Jewish national independence movement.

FN-report: Israel has tortured Palestinian prisoners
OfLine Jenvall
A new report from the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights describes how Israel has tortured Palestinian prisoners.
This is reported by both Ritzau and international news agencies.
These include waterboarding, preventing the prisoners from sleeping and electric shocks.
"The testimonies collected by my office indicate a series of horrific acts, including waterboarding and dogs being let loose on detainees," said UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk, according to the news agency AP.
According to the report, more than 9,400 Palestinians are being held captive by the Israeli prison system for "security reasons" — some of them secretly and without legal assistance.
The authors of the report have shared its contents with the Israeli government. The news agency AP has tried to get a comment from the Israeli government without success.
Let's hope for a "robust" Iranian response
And meanwhile not to belittle that abuse

Make no mistake snubbie, they were getting close to a deal and ceasefire, and that would mean Bibi's coalition would collapse, and he would have to resume his corruption trial.
He doesn't give a shit about the hostages. Israeli's see that, why can't you?
the israeli objective from day 1 was to take down the hamas leadership. cease fire or no cease fire, the israelis will not stop hunting them down wherever in the world they may be, until the very last one is dead. same as the munich terrorists.
which is exactly the right approach.

Do you realize he was Hamas's main negotiator for the release of the hostages? Getting someone new will delay that process. Almost like it was planned that way.
Bibi doesn't care about the hostages, and neither do you two faux jus.
well he wasnt having much success was he, and we all know that he was never going to release the hostages unless there was was a complete capitulation by israel, which quite justly is never goi g to happen.Do you realize he was Hamas's main negotiator for the release of the hostages? Getting someone new will delay that process.
hes better off dead. a martyr, its what he wanted. humiliated by the israelis, but glorified by allah. give the man a medal. the rest of the leaders will be quaking in their boots wondering when it will come.

On Israeli TV, politicians debate whether it is okay to sexually assault Hamas soldier
A member of the Israeli parliament on Monday defended why he believes that the rape and mistreatment of Palestinian prisoners is legitimate.

The arrest of nine Israeli soldiers suspected of sexually assaulting a Palestinian prisoner has ignited a debate in several Israeli media outlets.
Primarily right-wing politicians are storming forward in panel debates on Israeli TV, where it has been discussed, among other things, whether it is "legitimate" to commit assaults on Palestinian prisoners.
A member of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's party defended Monday why he believes that rape and mistreatment of Palestinian prisoners is acceptable.
It's the kind of thing that destroys a country from within
Allan Sørensen, Middle East correspondent for Kristeligt Dagblad
At a meeting, he angrily yelled at colleagues who questioned his statements that everything was legitimate to do to "terrorists" in custody, writes CBS.
"This is an expression of an ideological shift that is taking place in Israeli society," says Allan Sørensen, Middle East correspondent for Kristeligt Dagblad, and adds:
- Something that should not be in doubt for a second is now being debated by, among others, ministers and members of the Israeli government - and this means that the slide we are seeing is happening all the way inside the government as well.
United States reacts after video aired on TV channel
Israel should have 'zero tolerance' for the abuse and rape of any Palestinian prisoner, and at the same time, Israel should fully investigate allegations of sexual abuse of Palestinian prisoners by their soldiers, Matthew Miller, a spokesman for the US State Department, said on Wednesday.
"It is essential that the rule of law and due process prevail," he said.
If he is a Nukhba (Hamas militant, ed.), everything is legitimate to do! All!
Hanoch Milwidsky, Member of the Knesset
The United States reacted to the situation after a video was shown on Israel's Channel 12 news.
In the video, soldiers at the Sde Teiman military base can be seen taking a prisoner out of sight from surveillance cameras.
Miller said U.S. officials had reviewed the video.
"We have seen the video, and the reports of sexual abuse of prisoners are horrific. They should be thoroughly investigated by the Israeli government, by the IDF," he said, referring to the Israeli military.

'If he's Hamas, everything is legitimate'
The Sde Teiman military base is used as a detention center and is known for housing Palestinians who have been arrested in Gaza since Israel began its war against Hamas in response to the October 7 terrorist attack.
On July 30, several Israelis stormed the detention center to show support for the detained soldiers of the Israeli army suspected of raping the Palestinian prisoner.
The arrest of the soldiers has also angered Israeli politician Hanoch Milwidsky, a member of the Knesset, Israel's parliament, and part of Benjamin Netanyahu's party.
On Monday, he was asked whether he thought it was legitimate "to stick a rod into a person's rectum?"
-Yes! he shouted in response to his colleague in parliament.
"If he is a Nukhba (Hamas militant, ed.), everything is legitimate to do! All!
The arguments that several politicians from the far right nationalist wing use in the debate about the Israeli soldiers who are now being held back are that at a time when "our soldiers are fighting and losing their lives inside Gaza in the fight against Hamas, our military police should not arrest the same soldiers," says Allan Sørensen.
"And from the very top of Israeli politics, they argue that if he is a Hamas member, he has probably helped to do things that are even worse," says Allan Sørensen, adding:
"It's the kind of thing that destroys a country from within.
The Israeli prosecutor's office has extended the arrest of the soldiers until Sunday.
This happened because two of the five reservists who are still under arrest were caught lying during a lie detector test when they were asked if they had committed an "act of sodomy" on the prisoner, writes the Israeli media Haaretz.
Looks like Benji despite doubts from security is intent on provoking Iran and continuing in Gaza regardless on any remaining hostages.
I doubt Iran can win an all out war but will keep Benji in Office until Trump arrives to his rescue he hopes.

The Washington Post reported on Monday that Iran urged its proxies to take care when attacking Israel in order to avoid the outbreak of a regional war. It will but nothing new here since the establishment of a western backed Jewish state in the middle of the heart of Islamic states. Since then, on average, a war has erupted every 7 or 8 years. The current one will escalate but like the others will end for a few years until another kicks off.![]()
U.S. sends submarine to Middle East amid fears of escalation
The United States is sending the USS Georgia guided missile submarine to the Middle East and is speeding up the transit to the region of the USS Abraham Lincoln carrier strike group, equipped with F-35C fighters "in light of escalating regional tensions," the Pentagon said Sunday.
In a conversation with Israeli Defense Secretary Yoav Gallant, "Secretary Austin reiterated the United States' commitment to take every possible step to defend Israel and noted the strengthening of U.S. military force posture and capabilities throughout the Middle East," a Pentagon readout of the conversation said.
The two defense officials "also discussed Israel's operations in Gaza and the importance of mitigating civilian harm, progress towards securing a cease-fire and the release of hostages held in Gaza" as well as efforts to deter Iran, Hezbollah, and other Iran-allied groups in the region.
U.S. officials told CBS News on Monday that a limited attack from both Hezbollah and Iran could come with little to no warning. Hezbollah has been and remains positioned to launch attacks with virtually no warning, and Iran has made enough preparations to launch a limited attack with little warning, possibly coordinated to align with a Hezbollah launch, the officials said.
On Monday, the leaders of the U.K., Germany and France released their own joint statement calling for a cease-fire in Gaza, the release of the hostages and the "unfettered" delivery of aid to Gaza.
They urged Iran and its proxies, like Lebanon's Hezbollah, to refrain from attacks that could further escalate the conflict in the region.
"They will bear responsibility for actions that jeopardize this opportunity for peace and stability," the joint statement said. "No country or nation stands to gain from a further escalation in the Middle East."
Gaza's Hamas-run Health Ministry, which does not differentiate between civilians and combatants, announced Monday that a further 142 people had been killed in Israeli strikes over the past 48 hours, bringing the Palestinian death toll in Gaza since the war began to 39,897 people.
Hamas militants attacked Israel on Oct. 7, killing around 1,200 people and taking 250 people hostage. Around 110 hostages remain in captivity in Gaza and Israeli authorities believe around a third of the remaining hostages are no longer alive.
On Saturday, in one of the deadliest attacks in Gaza since the start of the war, an Israeli strike on a school-turned-shelter in Gaza City killed at least 80 people, according to The Associated Press.
Israel's military said it struck a Hamas command center located inside a mosque on the Al-Taba'een school grounds and that it used "three precise munitions which, according to professional analysis, cannot cause the amount of damage that is being reported by the Hamas-run Government Information Office in Gaza."
In a statement, Hamas said those in the compound were displaced people seeking shelter and they were killed while performing their dawn prayers.
"They are liars, liars, liars," one woman said of the IDF. "There were no fighters. No one had arms. We were mostly women."
