    It's official
We're a nation of rednecks incapable of change. That's fucked up.but came as no surprise. I voted. YES. During all that covid thing I had just returned to Oz no sooner did I arrive than covid kicked of . I saw people brawling in the supermarket aisles over a roll of toilet paper. For some reason every kunt thought covid made you shit like a duck and they were prepared to try to give you a beating in the mall if you got a roll and they didn't. Sadly that's when I realised in Oz it's every man for himself. It's very fucked up but certain factors are keeping me here for now . Fuck em , I'll sleep with one eye open from now on
I wasn't worried about the abo at all I thought we had fucked them around long enough. I'm more worried about these damn rednecks

It looks like there's very much a swing to the right in New Zealand also, with the incumbent Labour party conceding defeat to the National.

Except racism and ignorance doesn't only occur in Australia. . I believe Murdoch media are filling Americans heads full of shit also, it's probably got worse since you guys got rid of the orange monkey. We got rid of the non-stop bullshitting scomo and the new guy seemed to be kicking goals, the opposition that done Jack shit for years sure won't let him hear the end of it. .our level of horseshit is perhaps approaching the same horseshit level as the states? Just thought I'd throw that out there

I'm assuming you are trolling, but just in case you are this ignorant, of course they are allowed to vote.

Looking at the analysis on the ABC website, even the NT said NO, despite being strong ALP seats with 3 out of 4 of their representatives being Aboriginal. Lingiari, which is everywhere in the NT except Darwin, has the biggest ratio of electors who identify as Aboriginal but they voted 2 to 1 NO. Basically the only electorates which said Yes are a few inner city trendies, the " Balmain basket weavers" as Paul Keating so eloquently described them.

what we saw was a microcosm of the destruction of democracy - social media was the main conduit for dissemination of disinformation

this will get worse as the data on individuals held by corporations increases and the ability to individually tailor messages/advertisements to account holders in real time via GPT will influence decisions

this vote had no chance of succeeding as soon as the liberal party and their backers decided that this was an issue they could use to paint the current labour party and especially Albanese in a bad light and be able to brand them as 'losers'

voting yes was the only logical choice for this referendum , but as we see , the majority was able to be manipulated with a firehose of misinformation
If you torture data for enough time , you can get it to say what you want.

It ia a polarising issue and i find it odd that areas with a very high Indigenous population voted NO!
This sorta says to me that the people who it was aimed it didn't even want it.

It was only the feel good brigade who wanted it so they could be so socially supportive.

i am currently woking on a project near "Warmun" in Western Oz, We have a high indigenous content workforce and it is interesting getting the local boys opinion.
its slightly different to a lot of popular media. Copy Translate

Umm yes. It is doubtful that the majority got conned by disinfo in order to come to that conclusion.

The former prime minister Tony Abbott was one of the first to say this was not a vote against Aboriginal people but against "activists" — a line taken up repeatedly by Opposition Leader Peter Dutton and his Indigenous Affairs spokeswoman Jacinta Nampijinpa Price
we have had approximately 11 indigenous representative groups legislated into existence since 1967 they have all been removed by incoming parties or like the last one , just starved of funding until they dissolved

this referendum was a Labour party election promise , which was delivered - and now the Australian public have voted no , the Albanese government can now look to get legislation in place to assist in our movement to renewable energy

Regions with a high proportion of Indigenous Australians overwhelmingly voted 'Yes' in the referendum.
