Many years ago I was in the company of some Norwegians. It was some special day for them. I don't recall exactly what it was but maybe someone here will know. The Norwegians were wearing some kind of headwear that looked like half a burst plastic football with two horns sticking out of the top. In the spirit of the time, I placed one of those things on my head but the Norwegians became quite upset at that. "It's only for Norwegians and you are not Norwegian so you can't even put it on your head!" It seemd to me a rather odd reaction at the time. I suppose nowadays it would be called cultural appropriation. Would having some Norwegian blood in me entitle me to wear one? And would I need to prove it with a Mendip approved DNA test before placing it on my head?
