Tommy Robinson faces new contempt of court proceedings

Tommy Robinson faces a fresh hearing over an allegation he committed contempt of court by filming people in a trial and broadcasting footage on social media.

The Attorney General Geoffrey Cox has concluded it is in the public interest to bring proceedings against the far-right activist.

The former English Defence League (EDL) leader, whose real name is Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, is due to appear at the High Court on 22 March.

Tommy Robinson could face up to two years in prison after the attorney general ruled he should face fresh contempt of court charges.

Geoffrey Cox concluded it was in the public interest to bring proceedings against the anti-Islam activist, real name Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, over his conduct outside a grooming trial at Leeds Crown Court.

Robinson was jailed for 13 months in May last year after he filmed people involved in a criminal trial and broadcast the footage on social media.

The footage, lasting around an hour, was watched 250,000 times within hours of being posted on Facebook. The four men on trial were later convicted of gang-raping a teenage girl.

Robinson's contempt conviction was quashed by the Court of Appeal in August and the English Defence League founder was freed to face new proceedings at the Old Bailey.

Recorder of London, Nicholas Hilliard, referred the case to the attorney general in October after receiving a statement from Robinson.

In a statement on Thursday, Mr Cox said: “After carefully considering the details of this case, I have concluded there are strong grounds to bring fresh contempt of court proceedings against Stephen Yaxley-Lennon (AKA Tommy Robinson).

"As proceedings are now underway, it would not be appropriate to comment further and I remind everyone that it is an offence to comment on live court cases.”

The first hearing in the case will be held on 22 March at the High Court in London.

Good idea get him jailed before the end of the month so he can't hijack any Brexit marches for his own agenda especially now he is a UKIP advisor.

Excellent news, not so good for Stephen Yaxley-Lennon though.

Jailing him is going to make him a martyr though for his followers. A summer of discontent lies ahead.

He would never been persecuted if he had not mentioned Islam and it's associated rape gangs, sharia nonsense, fgm, child/forced marriages, inbreeding, total lack of integration, jihadi terror attacks, well the list of problems is legion with Islam. But we are all supposed to look the other way while it fuks up our countries.

If Tommeh had decided to campaign for a change in the law to make the punishment for nonces/grooming gangs far harsher without braying about their religion then he could have united left and right in a common cause. It was an utter nonsense that Tommy endangered the trial by standing in the street reading info that was in the public domain, ironically from the BBC website. The trial was already over and done with. The Police had cleared him, it was only when the vindictive judge spotted him that orders were given to arrest him. The establishment would far rather the hundreds of Muslim rapists were given no publicity at all, in the interests of 'community cohesion', the bastards.

He once ripped down an Isis flag in his home town where Muslims were burning poppies in protest at returning British troops from some Islamic shit hole, Iraq I think it was. He was fined £350, the Muslim poppy burners and Isis flag owners shouting British troops go to hell were fined £50. Tells you a lot about how fuked up Britistan is now
