apparently boonie doesn't have the stones to confront the glaring contradiction in his 'logic', because he has attempted to avoid answering the question here and sneak it into an entirely different thread....

    OK...you wanna personal opinion?
If I had a rich uncle who left me millions - you think I'd be for a death tax?
    Sometimes things get subjective, eh?

    oh, i see.....

if it's you, you don't have to earn it to deserve it. if it's someone else, they don't deserve it if they don't earn it.

that's not 'subjective' boonie, it's hypocritical....but needless to say, i'm not surprised.

I said it was a personal opinion, ray. I didn't say a Kennedy shouldn't have to pay some did I?
The topic of death taxes and who's to pay what is too large and complex a subject for a TEFLer & an oilfield hand. Maybe you can get the ant-man to weigh in. I'm sure he's well-qualified for such a discussion, eh?

Personally I don't believe in the Death Tax, and let alone a lot of the other taxes.

If a relative wants or wanted to leave me some funds to help me with my medical or living concerns when I'm older, or just leave me funds to help me buy a house, improve my or my kids education, it shouldn't be stolen by the government.

The money taxed in death taxes, have already been taxed in general, because it was "earned income."

Just another way to double and triple tax people from birth to death.

pointing out the inaccuracies in your posts hardly qualifies as dishonest.

but, if that's what gets you through the night.

as much as attaboy wants to make this thread about him, let's get back on topic.

    here's rand on native americans...
[they] didn't have any rights to the land and there was no reason for anyone to grant them rights which they had not conceived and were not using.... What was it they were fighting for, if they opposed white men on this continent? For their wish to continue a primitive existence, their "right" to keep part of the earth untouched, unused and not even as property, just keep everybody out so that you will live practically like an animal, or maybe a few caves above it. Any white person who brought the element of civilization had the right to take over this continent.[55]

OK I go for that, but what are "Native Americans"? it has been proven that American indians are not the first on the NA continent, but that for over 20k years there has been migration from the pacific rim onto the North American continent, so who was first, Kenewick man discovered in 1996 at Kennewick Washington on the bank of the columbia river pre dates the Indian by many thousands of years.

I agree with blackgang, and Jet, I'm offended, honestly.

I worked with union workers in the past. The worked hard. They also got the shaft sometimes and there was nothing they could do about it.

Without the unions where I worked, these workers would be working just as hard for: 1. less pay 2. little if any benefits and 3. a 401K.

Is it worth it? Not to me.

Kinda interesting to observe how instinctively that right-wing suppressive fascists wing-nuts are drawn to this freak, Ayn Rand. Quite the consensus, historically.

Atlas Shrugged Sales Are Going Through the Roof

If you were to read only one work of fiction, it should be Atlas Shrugged, in which Ayn Rand foresees the destruction of America by collectivist looters like Obama, and the emergence of a resistance that refuses to be enslaved by Marxist ideology. Encouragingly, sales of the prophetic book are soaring:
Sales of Ayn Rand's "Atlas Shrugged" have almost tripled over the first seven weeks of this year compared with sales for the same period in 2008. This continues a strong trend after bookstore sales reached an all-time annual high in 2008 of about 200,000 copies sold.
"Americans are flocking to buy and read 'Atlas Shrugged' because there are uncanny similarities between the plot-line of the book and the events of our day" said Yaron Brook, Executive Director at the Ayn Rand Center for Individual Rights. "Americans are rightfully concerned about the economic crisis and government's increasing intervention and attempts to control the economy. Ayn Rand understood and identified the deeper causes of the crisis we're facing, and she offered, in 'Atlas Shrugged,' a principled and practical solution consistent with American values."
