Well as someone who is here now I can say there is no escaping it. It is all over TV and social media literally all the time. Anxiety and tensions are very high in the country right now. Personally I do not think this is sustainable.
I think that many of the people who voted for him who have spent a fair bit of time talking smack are know realizing that they are going to have to take a bite of this shit sandwich themselves.
OK so Trumpie gets shot down by the DC establishment or something of the sort. Then what. He gets replaced by the VP... and then what? They won't like that any better than Trumpie, so is it going to take a civil war to win back the Clintonesque version of the US that you all seem to think would have been some kind of improvement on the way things were.
There is so much shit being thrown around over this ban on people from a small handful of countries; and yet, what is it really?....a temporary halt to entry from these specific places, for 90 days. Is this something to get anxious about?
It's been presented in some quarters as a "Muslim" ban, when there is no such ban on people from the other 100+ Muslim countries around the world. Not only that, but Trump did state many times that he was going to do it long before he became President, and he gave his reasons....agree or not. Now it's a huge shock when he actually does what he said he was going to do....I suppose people are not used to that are they?
So, apart from the obvious inconvenience caused to a small number of people, what is the big flap about? Any country has the right to place restrictions on people who wish to enter. There is no restriction on those who already hold US passports regardless of where they originally came from, and overall not much restriction on anybody other than the countries named.
It has nothing to do with Muslims per se.....it has everything to do with citizens from broken, dysfunctional states where extremist elements are known to exist, from entering the US, until a more reliable and robust vetting program can be established. This has been explained many times, but it seems to fall on deaf ears and those with reading difficulty.
All this anxiety is being fostered by a media frenzy of speculation about worst case scenarios on anything and everything connected with Trump. If we filter out all the BS and speculation there is not much left to get anxious about.....unless Ivanka's party dress is in some way a threat to national security and identity.
At least the crowd size and cake issues seem to have died down a bit, so I suppose they had to come up with some new threat of disaster to fill up the pages and air time....
Creating anxiety is the very stock-in-trade of the media....they thrive on it, and it it seems to be working they will keep piling it on.
