1 - the story originates from Times of Israel, reporting on the "confession" under torture of Hussam Kawasme, the supposed ring leader.
2 - The story was then that Hamas had given money for the operation, but the operation required no money. Pick up three lads and kill them. Not expensive.
3 - Then there is a statement from some knob in Turkey Saleh Al-Arouri an exiled hamas "leader"
This is the confession you are alluding to, but it is not. It's a daft pratt in Turkey doing israels work for them.

The two men were affiliated with the Hamas militant group which runs Gaza. A group leader praised the kidnappings in August, though other top officials denied any advance knowledge.

Funny that "pratt" Saleh ah-Nouri, one of the founders of Hamas' military wing stated at a conference 21 August 2014 in Turkey that members of Hamas' armed wing Qassam Brigades had kidnapped and killed the three teenagers.
His claim was not supported by Hamas political leaders. Hamas leader Khaled Meshaal said that Hamas members may have been behind the killings but that they were not acting on the direct orders of Hamas' political leadership.
22 August 2014 Hamas executes 21 "suspected informers".
Doesn't matter if it is The Guardian , The Independent or NPR.org...it's all bollocks.
