    How will Obama be remembered?

I checked the Obama news thread and it's better to start a-fresh.

    (Sorry for the American topic.)

    But seriously, in your opinion:

    How will Obama be remembered?

Yes, historians often wait decades later and do their research and evaluate situation before and after a President's term.

In your serious opinion, overall and specifically, how do you think Obama will be remembered.

    What say you?

Please focus on Campaign promises / statements of the 08 and 12 race; what he did or did not do or change.

Here is just a warm up and it's only 2 (talking heads') opinion.

    As of March 15, 2016, I have 97Century Threads.

Obama will be remembered as the greatest disappointment in American politics. There was so much hope and optimism in 2008 that abuses by the American Government under the guise of fighting terrorism would stop, but they didn't.

Obama is little more than an actor playing the role of President and taking his orders from the same corporate human garbage that people Bush did.

    Dunno,

But it sure as Fuk going to be interesting when Trump gets in and starts kicking arses.

People are sick and tired of these pin headed Politicians who talk the talk and never follow up.

Trump tells punters stuff some can't handle.

    Love it.

Obama has had to work with the least productive Congress in history.

Tough to get legislation passed when you have people like Cruz reading Dr. Seuss books out on the floor instead of working.

It's a miracle he's managed to get anything done.

First Black president to complete two terms with his hands tied behind his back. Cuba should be his defining moment, especially for anyone who lived through the missile crisis in the 60s.

Normalizing relations with Cuba is not really about Obama, IMO.

(The Embargo is still in effect and will likely continue for a while. Congress has to repeal it.)

Obama normalized relations with Cuba because of the change in polling data for 2 million Cuban-Americans in Florida.

Since Castro came to power Cuban-Americans were staunch opponents to any type of dialogue, warming of relations, trade, etc towards Cuba.

Even casually mentioning it brought harsh responses to former Presidents and Congressional members.

Florida is critical to winning a Presidential election for all candidates and both parties.

Now, the younger generation of Cuban-Americans have changed their stance and it is no longer political suicide to open up to Cuba.

I doubt he would have done it on that basis.

Are you saying that it will benefit the democrats in Florida?

IMO, it's not about any benefits, but avoiding any negatives.

(We can assume Obama wanted to do this or has wanted to do it - but if the polling data say "no" then he would not have.)

FL is a valuable state, and the previous election results have been very close as we know.

The last President to go there was in 1928 FFS. You cannot ask others for an opinion and then choose to disagree with it.

So now you're saying it would have been detrimental if he hadn't gone?

WTF are you actually trying to say?

I think Obama was trying to remove a festering carbuncle from the political landscape.

It's like this, his legacy will live on , black folks will have his photo up on the wall in their homes.
White folks won't, saying that white folks don't display portraits of politicians anyway.
Anybody on here want to volunteer that they have a politician on their wall?
