Ann has made a lot of money. She has been engaged several times, but never married. She has a condo in Manhattan, and a house in Palm Beach- interestingly, she is registered to vote in Florida, not pinko Liberal New York, but she spends most of her time in NY. She has authored five books, all have appeared in the New York Times best seller list (a bit ironic, when you consider her quote above).

Unfortunately I can't hate her booner- although I fully expected to when i started this thread.

I think she's sexy, in a heroin chic kind of way (she denies she has bulimnia).

She's unabashedly into dating (she said something like 'hey i'm not married, so I can go and and fuck whoever I want', when she was younger), but staunchly Christian. She used to like making out in public- stairwells and things- but can't do it much now 'cus she's famous. She was engaged to Bob Guccione's (Penthouse) son for a while. She dated a Moslem, even took him to church. When asked if she converted him, she said 'no, but I was glad he wasn't out killing people'.

She's unabashedly greedy and commercial- she even taunts her many detractors with the fact that the controversy just makes her more money. She apologises for nothing. She's a parody of herself, perhaps the worst insult I can give her is that I cannot take her seriously. She kinda reminds me of an ex Israeli/Aussie girlfriend of mine, who's defining moment was when she was still heatedly extolling the virtues of Zionism whilst being sodomised.

Thats my impressions post. We'll get back to some more serious stuff later.

Ann attended prestigious Cornell University, then did law at Michigan U. Her family were affluent Republicans in leafy Connecticut- she proudly describes her father, a lawyer, as a 'union buster'. Or so the legend goes- the jury is still out on whether she is from Outer Space, or Transgender. She certainly has Balls.

Her biggest case as an actual lawyer (OK attorney, she's sherman, maybe) she did for free. A free spirited young lady named Paula Jones came forward with some less than flattering accusations against the incumbent Democrat President, one Bill Clinton.

Well what else could Ann do? Given a God granted chance to topple or discredit a despised Democrat president, Ann launched herself into the campaign with gusto. She famously described Slick Willy as 'probably a rapist'. It was her that leaked to the Press details of Mr. Clintons famous bent penis, which Paula had said she 'would recognise anywhere'!

Slick Willy settled this one, prolly for around $750,000. Ann was disappointed- she wanted to go for the jugular, topple the Emperor- not settle for mere money. Then when Paula had the temerity to accept paid media interviews, Ann's Christian sensitivities were outraged. She described Paula Jones as a Bimbo and a Slut. Of course Ann would never stoop so low as to court or accept money or publicity from the Media.
Her speaking fee stands at $25,000, allegedly $50,000 the other side of the Mississippi.

I saw a funny TV reality show this week-end, from the US.

There is this very attractive woman, and 7 guys to seduce her before the end of the season, with a grand prize at the end.

I read two of the interviews it links to, with the Guardian and Time magazine. They both describe a woman who is a bit more complex than the one dimensional harpie she has made her money from portraying. I think she would be more fun to have lunch with than Rush Limbaugh.

Obviously, there is little middle ground when it comes to Coulter, at least in the USA. It's love or hate. Here, we can be a bit more neutral, a lot more patronizing.

To me she's another Carrie Bradshaw, just as shallow and temporal but a shoot from the hip mouthpiece for American Conservatism, rather than Sex in the City. It gives her money, fame & infamy, a ready made audience to pander to- and the paychecks come rolling in. Her image defines her public persona, not vice versa. It is the size of her audience that causes her to be noticed, but you could say the same about Rush Limbaugh and Gerry Falwell.

It is an all American audience- I bet several BM's have never heard of Ann until now. Outside of America, you rarely do. Here are some shared articles of faith between her audience and her:-

Communism is evil, Islam is evil, Europe is Socialist and not to be trusted, China is evil and a threat. They all want to 'take over the World'. And so on- these people are quite insecure actually. The only things that can be trusted are American, and Conservative.

When it comes down to it, thats really the only thing we should be interested in about Ann Coulter. Her audience. She offers an important snapshot of contemporary America, just as Michael Moore does from an opposing perspective. These people are panicking at the prospect of a Democratic Presidency. Expect a dirty, mud-slinging campaign.

Well in my case Stroll it's to kind of illustrate the sort of controversy Ann Coulter generates, plus frankly just to make a bit of a change to the dry old Isssues format.
Coulter is an interesting phenomenon, but perhaps not quite as heavyweight as say invading Iraq. I started out a bit more serious but thought after a while, a bit of tongue in cheek as just as useful to explain her remarkable public profile.

I just don't find it at all "funny", usually it's those on the right who come up with photo-shopped pics and think they're being clever.
It only exposes the author's mean spirit, and, as mentioned already, ultimately adds to the popularity and income of the object of ridicule.

Neither Moore nor Coulter deserve the publicity.
