    On selective truths

The Nation has filled in a quiet day by having a crack at AMM.

The dangers of SELECTIVE TRUTH - The Nation

The problem is that it becomes difficult for a hack to assert that one 'truth' should displace another if his newspaper is not allowed to mention what is at issue. One ends up with the Nation's version of blind man's bluff.

Thanks for sharing. Apparently The Nation doesn't want to identify the author as I could not easily spot that.

As a side note, since it is an opinion piece it might better be posted in another forum, possibly Speakers Corner, as the TD policy for news posts is that opinion pieces are not considered news.

from the 'TD secrets' web page (not my words, as they might be considered a bit harsh):
Opinion Pieces in the news are just like A$$ holes we all have one, but opinions are not news, if you want to post an opinion piece as an opening post, post it in the Speakers Corner

The only problem with bollocks like this piece is that it is rendered worthless by the fact that the people are forbidden to read the book and judge for themselves.

Well, this guy is a numbskull along with those who published 'that book' in Thai.

Kipling had it down way back when: "The East is East and the West is West and Never the Twain Shall Meet"

These Farangs who try to establish western values on Asia are morons.

    10/1 on it's Pauline Kanchanalak.
#182: 04-20-01 THAI BUSINESSWOMEN SENTENCED ON CAMPAIGN FINANCING CHARGES

For my money AMM has an infinitely better grasp of the East than she has of the West. Some on the thread seem to be close to playing that tired old 'Thainess' argument - of course, the farang will never understand.
