Using Syria (a country that has used violence to oppress the majority since Assad's dad was in power) and Lebanon (the Shi'a minority of whom blew up the former Prime Minister they didn't like) demonstrates that your knowledge of the region is on a par with Klondyke's.
I'll grant you that Lebanon has a lot more nuances than Syria, in that while the Muslims outnumber other religions and sects, they are split equally between Shi'a and Sunni minorities, and thus it relies on Iran and Syria's influence (and armaments) to prop up the Shi'a there.
But really.... Syria, a democracy?
You don't honestly believe that shit do you? I thought you were just trying a wind up.
