Who on earth could think that picture has not stayed in the memory?
It's one of the best-remembered photographs ever taken.
There are documentaries based on that single shot, and the 'girl' in the photo has written a book.

The picture was first rejected to be published, Wikipedia of the AP photograph Nick Ut says:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nick_Ut
Before delivering his film with the Kim Phúc photo, he took her to the hospital. The publication of the photo was delayed due to the AP bureau's debate about transmitting a naked girl's photo over the wire:
...an editor at the AP rejected the photo of Kim Phuc running down the road without clothing because it showed frontal nudity. Pictures of nudes of all ages and sexes, and especially frontal views were an absolute no-no at the Associated Press in 1972...Horst argued by telex with the New York head-office that an exception must be made, with the compromise that no close-up of the girl Kim Phuc alone would be transmitted. The New York photo editor, Hal Buell, agreed that the news value of the photograph overrode any reservations about nudity.
I have seen a documentary (French) with Nic Ut, where he said it was not the "nudity" but rather a political "embarrassment", so AP were afraid to publish it. It was a lot of bickering around it with many people involved. It had not been much left and the photo would never be shown to world.
Where did you get that from?Originally Posted by Cold Pizza

Phúc was removed from her university as a young adult studying medicine and used as a propaganda symbol by the communist government of Vietnam. In 1986, however, she was granted permission to continue her studies in Cuba. She had converted from her family's Cao Đài religion to Christianity four years earlier.[18] Prime Minister of Vietnam Phạm Văn Đồng became her friend and patron.
Kim Phúc and her family were residents of the village of Trang Bang, South Vietnam. On June 8, 1972, South Vietnamese planes dropped a napalm bomb on Trang Bang, which had been attacked and occupied by North Vietnamese forces.
Audio tapes of President Richard Nixon, in conversation with his chief of staff, H. R. Haldeman in 1972, reveal that Nixon mused "I'm wondering if that was fixed" after seeing the photograph
Rev. John Plummer, a Vietnam veteran, who believed he took part in coordinating the air strike with the South Vietnamese Air Force (though Plummer's entire chain of command and declassified documents indicate otherwise[24]) met with Phúc briefly and was publicly forgiven. Plummer later admitted to The Baltimore Sun he had "lied", saying he was "caught up in the emotion at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial on the day Phuc spoke".[25][26] Canadian filmmaker, Shelley Saywell, made a documentary about their meeting.
Fine, whatever floats your boat Dr....actually some of the 'news' agencies have learned not to give credit to SITE as an original source as they used to in the past.( But they're still using SITE info. I think they got burned on some of the green screen beheading videos.)Originally Posted by DrB0b

SITE usually provides the first English translations...which is why I'm calling them an original source. The communique was published in Arabic and French, and an English translation was provide by the SITE Intelligence Group, which monitors jihadi websites.
So lets see in the present if SITE is/was mentioned anywhere for the Manchester bombing...
Manchester Bombing Suspect Identified, US Officials Say; ISIS Claims Responsibility
https://infoforyour.com/isis-support...icide-bombing/The Islamic State did not give any details about the attacker or how the blast was carried out late Monday. Its statement was posted on the online messaging service Telegram and later noted by the SITE Intelligence Group, which monitors militant websites.
ISIS Claims Responsibility for Manchester AttackRita Katz, director of the SITE Intelligence Group, tweeted, “No claim regarding blasting in Manchester, but ISIS accounts celebrating the attack, disseminating media and threats.”

In another tweet, Katz said that ISIS released instructions on how to manufacture a bomb in November.

Father and Brother of Manchester Bomber Arrested in Libya (1) - SFGateThe SITE Intelligence Group published a translated statement calling those killed in the attack "crusaders" and threatening further violence. However, it's still not clear how ISIS may actually be connected to the bombing. Law enforcement officials in Britain have said that one man detonated the bomb in a suicide attack, and they have arrested a 23-year old in connection with the incident. Investigators are still working to find out whether this is an isolated attack or the person responsible was working with a broader group.
What Does It Mean When ISIS Claims Responsibility For An Attack? | NPR & Houston Public MediaIslamic State claimed the Manchester attack in a short message in Arabic and English posted on the online messaging service Telegram and picked up by the SITE Intelligence Group, which monitors militant websites. It did not give any details about the attacker, or how the blast was carried out, leading some analysts to question the extent of the militant group’s involvement.
Islamic State Claims Responsibility For Manchester Bombing - One News PageThe other route is more direct though less common: The Islamic State issues a statement itself, with no intermediary. The Nashir Media Foundation is considered the official ISIS channel, and its statements are considered to come directly from the group, said Rita Katz, the director of the SITE Intelligence Group.
"When these claims show up, it's an indication of the role that ISIS played," she said.
Katz also said she saw a flood of communication among ISIS supporters shortly after Monday night's attack in Manchester, England, reminiscent of other large ISIS attacks. That was a strong signal to her that ISIS was directly behind the bombing.
On Tuesday, as she expected, ISIS issued its own statement, strengthening her belief that it was directly involved. The Amaq News Agency followed shortly afterward with a bulletin of its own.
Either way, outlets like the Long War Journal and SITE Intelligence Group monitor what's being posted. When a claim has been made, they'll translate it and publish it online.
Are you seeing a pattern yet? From all these supposedly independent sources.According to AP, there was no immediate claim of responsibility. Online, supporters of the extremist Islamic State group, which holds territory in Iraq's Mosul and around its de facto capital in the Syrian city of Raqqa, celebrated the blast. One wrote: "May they taste what the weak people in Mosul and (Raqqa) experience from their being bombed and burned," according to the U.S.-based SITE Intelligence Group.

^I'm guessing you don't read Arabic or know how to access IS media. All SITE does is translate and sell to a media that also can't read Arabic. SITE don't originate anything, as is clearly stated in your own post, the NPR quote. Are you another one who doesn't actually read what he posts?
The notifications I posted above came directly from al-furqan media, do you know who they are? What about al-Hayat media foundation, are you familiar with their product? Do you listen to al bayan?

I guess if the media wasn't so interested in pushing an agenda(in which SITE fits in perfectly) they'd get off their collective asses and get some real translators wouldn't they?Originally Posted by DrB0b

You know what you are told about who the culprits of the latest outrage are. But do you really know who actually did the deed? No, none of us do. A lot of dead patsies and useful idiots are trotted out as the evil doers. But do we really know for certain they were the ones? Again, no we don't. How do we know for sure that all this isn't just another Gladio style operation("Strategy of Tension")? We don't.
