kerry is a big joke, what on earth was Obama thinking ? his foreign policies have been disastrous, almost as bad as GW Bush despite his will to change things.
Having Clinton as the SecDef was a big mistake, and now kerry ? oh please, two failed presendential hopeful trying to run an international agenda, they couldn't run their own presendential campaign

Iran’s acceptance of the invitation to join the Syria talks in Vienna, an offer made by Russia after President Obama and Secretary of State John Kerry dropped Washington’s past objections, reflected how rapidly the dynamics of the war have changed. Clearly worried about the military support that Russia and Iran are providing to prop up President Bashar al-Assad, the United States has concluded that the only hope for easing Mr. Assad from power is to find a political solution with his two sponsors.
But Iran’s participation also appeared to signal how Iran is emerging from decades of American-imposed marginalization. Only two years ago, it was disinvited from joining Syrian peace talks because of pressure from the United States. Now, with Iran’s enhanced standing in the aftermath of the nuclear agreement, Mr. Kerry appears to be testing whether a broader basis for cooperation is possible.

The Kurds are well armed and experienced in battle, holding a significant area on the Syria - Turkey border. Turkey is a NATO country.

yes, the Americans need an excuse to send troops on the ground, so placing special forces to be bombed by Russians seems quite possible, or they are completely dump and stupid at the Pentagon.
The US didn't get enough having their arse kicked in Afghanistan and Iraq, and now they want a real power like Russia or China against them. They probably think they got enough training with those 2 failed wars.

He told me more than a few times that the US will eventually need to fight against Russia directly, or possibly China. The sooner, the better.
These kind of conservative lunatics are everywhere in the Pentagon decision process, so you can see how a real world war could start soon.
Of course they all assume they would win, like in a hollywood movie. The alternative reality version might not be as glamourous and exciting as one though.
