    No-one is abandoning the 'Merkins.

You were the first one to cry foul when the embassy was evacuated - what a sign of weakness blah blah blah

You need to decide what road you want to take. India has taken the lead role in the place to evacuate ALL foreigners. China did so before that. It's the way it's done.

The US asked its citizens in Yemen to leave as far back as February 11 and before that, as far back as 2013.
What do you want them to do? Forcefully evict them?
Yes that would have been beautiful and you would have been the first to scream about civil rights.

Sorry, but this time I think you're dead wrong about this.

Anyway, the ones being evacuated by India, China, Pakistan - you know, the countries that actually have ships there - are suing the US government. Here's a list of them, happy reading:

Why is it always up to the US to clean these things up? The US always get their hands dirty while the Europeans sit on their fat asses and criticize. Can you Europeans do anything else besides sit on your fat asses and criticize?

On an even enlightened note, why is any of this the American's or European's business? Outside of the fact that they were the instigators of the mess.

Why did ISIS release so many Yazidis? Tired of taking care of so many? Because most were elderly and children? Right now, nobody seems to know.

Young females were kept as sex slaves and younger men were also kept. What does this all signify?

ISIS seems to be an unusual example of the mob mentality at work on a large scale. The fighters themselves strongly feature those who are quite uneducated and ignorant, or else sociopathic....possibly as a result of cousin intermarriage over generations.

The mob mentality has taken over and made them feel empowered, and this effect will snowball for some time. Doubtless the fighters were previously village guys from the middle of nowhere.

Only a really concerted and focused effort by Western and local forces will break that.

It appears ISIS is making a move on Ramadi. The city is saying the situation is desperate and are asking for assistance to combat the seige.
    ISIS militants lay siege

    Story highlights

Local official says it's unclear how long government forces can hold out
He begs the Iraqi government for reinforcements and the U.S.-led coalition for airstrikes
West of Baghdad (CNN)The key Iraqi city of Ramadi could fall within hours to ISIS militants who have been gaining ground in recent days, a local official said Wednesday.

Fierce fighting has engulfed Ramadi, which lies only about 70 miles (110 kilometers) west of Baghdad and is the capital of Anbar province, Iraq's Sunni heartland.

Deputy Head of the Anbar Provincial Council Falih Essawi told CNN from inside the city that it's unclear how much longer government troops can hold the front lines against the ISIS offensive.

Intensifying previous warnings about the critical situation in Ramadi, he begged the Iraqi government for reinforcements and the U.S.-led coalition for air support.

His plea for help comes the day after Iraqi Prime Minister Haider Al-Abadi met with U.S. President Barack Obama in Washington to seek more support for the fight against ISIS.

The extremist group's offensive in Ramadi shows its resilience despite months of U.S.-led airstrikes and the recent defeat to Iraqi forces in the northern city of Tikrit.

    ISIS squeezing Ramadi
ISIS fighters have Ramadi under pressure from several angles.

Essawi said ISIS militants made significant advances Wednesday in three areas east of Ramadi: Albu Soda, Albu Ghanem and parts of Soufia, which leads to central Ramadi.

A member of the tribal groups fights alongside Iraqi government forces during clashes with ISIS jihadists in Ramadi in March.
Over the weekend, the militants seized control of areas north of Ramadi. Routes south of the city were taken some months ago.

That leaves only areas to the west of Ramadi in the hands of government forces, but those positions are under threat, Essawi warned.

The recent fighting has driven a steady stream of refugees out of the city.

Ramadi has seen intense and persistent fighting for months. ISIS took over parts of the city in the first half of last year, placing it at the heart of a deadly tug of war ever since.

The U.S. military has carried out multiple airstrikes against ISIS targets near in recent weeks.

CNN's Hamdi Alkhshali and Arwa Damon reported from west of Baghdad, and Jethro Mullen wrote from Hong Kong.

Too bad the GCC is off fighting lesser mortals. I should say bombing Electrical Gen. Stations, Water Treatment Plants, Food Stores, Refugee Camps and a few 1,000,000 Sq Km of desert in Yemen.

It's a good job the US can refuel them, send more bombs, advise and train the GCC. No blood on Americans hands.

As some have said a noticeable absence of any public support from other western nations i.e. joining the coalition yet.

Well they have only been at for a few months, give them a chance it takes a while for the new troops/coalition pilots/ First they have to supply more arms, training, tactics and "intelligence". Along with non lethal weapons capable of bring death and destruction to many a wedding party. No boots on the ground, except for "Advisors" who give advice as to what non lethal weapon to use , where to point it and which buttons to press to let it rip.

Keep the MIC profitable war simmering, if they actually won the war - then what? Withdraw and plan Iraqi Freedom IV, V and VI...........

Reports are now that unless reinforcements and air stikes occur within the next three hours in Ramadi, the local government will have to withdraw. Requests for reinforcements have been reaching the Iraqi government for days, and even though the government has stated they sent reinforcements, none have been seen in Ramadi.

Air strikes have also been requested, but nothing seems to be happening other than a lot of silence. So what is going on? Has the Iraqi government and US led coallition given up on Ramadi? ISIS will have control of the city very soon unless some last minute help arrives.

As a side note, the Iraqi government handed out 1000 AK-47s to Ramadi Sunnis to help fight ISIS which is a drop in the bucket.

. . . possibly another case of the 'soldiers' chucking their gear and running the other direction.

It seems the coalition of Iraqi, Iranian, other local militias and along with the US and UK from 30,000ft have managed to retake the city of Tikrit.

You mean the Caliph of the Islamic State (Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi)?

I suspect most of the inhabitants have fled. They will return, Fallujah, Iraq, has risen from it's past. Whether anybody will live for long is debatable, what with the depleted Uranium bombs used.

I can't imagine going back to a place like that . . . and the issue you raised would certainly cause concern as well . . . also, will those ISIS murderers try to re-take it?
