Such is the fear of the average American that the "gubmint will take away their guns", they would prefer to let their children live in terror and go to school in fortresses rather than take any meaningful and obvious steps to do what the rest of the civilised world has done to control access to lethal firearms.

I think it's time they ditched the "Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave" bullshit.
