Why drag the thread down, you silly old codger. The theme currently under debate is why are Americans so lethally stupid and reckless with their lives and particularly those of their children.

The analogy between you septic chaps and the Thai is quite apposite given the number of deaths occasioned by Thai society through irrational and incoherent governance, a casualty rate broadly similar to that prevailing in the US.

I rather think the pertinent issue to be recognised here is to what extent does individual stupidity constitute a systemic societal incognisance whereby citizens, and their rule of law, fail to rationalise their imbecility.

Certainly, there is no question of an equivalence between Septic society and a European one when it comes to reckless indifference to public safety.

Only an utterly stupid society comprising morons so dumb as to be less sentient than a fucking tree would permit an 18 year old adolescent to walk into a gun store and buy two assault rifles and ammunition without meaningful restriction.

AFAIK there is no European state permitting such idiocy but that cannot be said of the US.
