The term "assault weapon" came into existence around 1990. Coined by politicians.
The military never used the terminology.
"Assault Rifle" is something more recent the ignorant media tosses around recklessly to stir up negative emotions.

Before 1990 we had "selective fire" and "semi-auto" weapons, no assault weapons.

Every time there's a mass shooting tragedy the gun-grabbers seize the opportunity to promote new firearms laws before the bodies are even cold.

The latest tactic from the horrible FL school shooting, is to blame the NRA for the shooting. When in fact it was negligence of the school, local law enforcement and the FBI which were major contributors to the problem exploding as it did.
They knew about that shooter kid long before it happened.

The problem is the proliferation of firearms, something constantly bribed or threatened for by the NRA.

And ones capable of mass slaughter are a much bigger problem; they should be outlawed.

It's only tools like you that defend the NRA.

I'm just surprised you haven't jumped on how much money they spend on "school safety", but then again that's probably because you know we'd take the piss because it's all just an NRA marketing campaign to get kids wanting guns at a young age.|

And as for waiting until the bodies get cold, perhaps if you gun whacks didn't bleat this every time schoolkids are massacred, and offer you "thoughts and prayers", something might get done.

Let's hope the kids do their stuff next week. I think the majority of Americans are fucking sick of that NRA shit now.

    Not really.

From your research can you say when the last mass shooting occurred in Thailand?

Plus I'd say that if your point of comparison is a third world country then that's a problem in of itself. Just because something is worse somewhere else doesn't mean it should preclude discussion of it.

I'm not researching mass shootings. I'm researching American homicide deaths around the world.

I didn't mention preclusion but with the elephant in the room I wondered why the local problem is not of any interest.

Err OK, good luck with that then, hope you find what you’re looking for (whatever that might actually be).

This thead’s about US gun deaths (including the alarming rate of mass shootings).

Oh in that case you're probably barking up the wrong tree.

    I'd try Iraq or Afghanistan.

    I'm barking up every tree.

The US has 30 times as many guns as Thailand. It probably has 30 times as many mass shootings. The most recent in Thailand was eight months ago.

But you said you're only interested in dead Americans. Doesn't that somewhat skew the statistics?
