I heard it is a tax exemption of $50m that is under consideration for Delta (and others if it is not against fair trade agreements). Have you ever been to Atlanta? If Delta retaliated by pulling out then Atlanta and Georgia would be well and truly F*cked!!

Love the games that have started and hope they continue until America sees the error of its ways with the current gun laws.

Some handy tips on how to deal with Active Shooter situations from a security newsletter I get.

Primarily of use to snubby and the rest of the US brigade, obviously.

Mind you I notice they've left out "Shit yourself, you're going to die".

    • Immediately attempt to exit affected area(s); those who flee improve their chance of survival
    • Leave your personal belongs behind; your personal safety is of paramount concern
    • Evacuate even if others do not follow; try to help others, if possible
    • Keep your hands visible when fleeing to avoid being mistaken for an assailant by security forces
    * If the shooter(s) seems to be targeting exits or those fleeing, practice “avoidance”– move away
from the shooter(s) even if that requires moving farther away from an exit
    • Running may not always be feasible, especially in buildings or confined areas; be prepared to
adapt accordingly by hiding/barricading or fighting/confronting

    • Hiding can improve victims' chance of survival, when they are unable to run
    • If in an office or room, stay there and secure the door
    • Silence your cellphone and/or other electronic devices to avoid detection, use mobile devices to
contact authorities only if it is safe to do so
    * Hiding does not involve only passive action, such as moving out of sight; it also includes active
response, such as locking doors and erecting barricades
    * Barricades do not need to be impenetrable; instead, any barricade could potentially be of use, as
it puts distance between the victim and the shooter, provides some protection against bullets, and
    delays the shooter’s progress
    * Ensure that the barricaded location does not become a “trap;” maintain a way to exit

    • If unable to run or hide, victims should be prepared to fight
    • If unarmed, grab everyday items that could be used as weapons, such as knives, scissors, fire
    extinguishers, chairs, and lamps
    • Act with physical aggression and/or throw items at the shooter to startle or disrupt their course of
    action
    • Identify shooter’s points of weakness, such as pauses in firing to reload or exposed areas of the
body that protective equipment are unlikely to cover; use these to your advantage
    • When attacking, avoid actions that put other innocent bystanders at risk
    • When in a group, use numbers to your advantage to overwhelm a small number of attackers
    * Don't forget to puff your chest out and say "Let's Roll" (OK I made that one up).

The part about practicing avoidance is very helpful.

I think that bit about turning mobiles off is probably the most important.

All well and good finding yourself a good hiding place only to give the game away with your "Final Countdown" ringtone.

Isn't that part of mental healthcare along with educating the public on signs to look for and the importance of acting on those indicators.

Is Retardation or Drunkenness (or both) considered a mental illness?

A man was shot and killed early Sunday morning at a Texas house party after he put on a bulletproof vest and said to his friend, “shoot me,” according to reports.
About six to eight people were at the house party in Houston just after 1 a.m. when the man put on a bulletproof vest, FOX26 Houston reported. The gunman, identified as Jason Griffin, 39, allegedly shot the man and fled the scene, according to police.
Griffin’s girlfriend, Mary Warstler, told KTRK her boyfriend didn’t intend to kill his friend, identified Monday as Daniel Barber.
"[Barber] goes 'shoot me.' Well, [Griffin] didn't think there was nothing in it, and he did. And the dude went '[expletive] that hurt' and then he dropped. And then Jason ripped the vest off of him and tried to help him,'" Warstler told KTRK.
Warstler told the news station Griffin was at the party to sell his friend a “flak jacket.”
Barber was struck in the chest and pronounced dead at the scene when paramedics arrived. It’s unclear if the bullet went through the vest or it struck an area that the body was not covered.
Griffin was found at a nearby hospital and was being treated for a medical issue, according to FOX26. He was arrested and charged with manslaughter, felon in possession of a weapon and unlawful possession of body armor.
