Maybe they were unclear about what actually happened. The son of bitch deserved to be shot, but once he was neutralized no sane person would go grab another gun and shoot a defenseless person, even if he were a shithead thief.

My little brother used a golf club to beat the tar out of a (very large) asshole he caught breaking into his car in our mother's driveway. I was proud of him for that. I wouldn't have been proud of him had he continued beating on the guy once he was down and not getting up. Waiting for the police to arrive was the right move (and the cops agreed- the very large methhead thief lived to apologize in court before being sent up the river for a spell).

Heat of the moment counts for something so the sentence is arguably heavy, but firing off shots in public at the fleeing robber and executing the unconscious one- those are crimes.

Did your brothers intruder have a gun? If someone were to,point a gun at me, I would empty my clip on them to make sure they did not get off a shot. Both police and miltary train this way and never train to wound which does not make legal or tactical sense say experts.

Damn right it was a heavy sentence for what happened, but the DA had the NAACP down his throat.

Police trained to empty their clip???
Police are trained to shoot until the threat stops.
Being already SHOT IN THE HEAD and unconscious usually qualifies as "non threatening"

Military trained to empty their clips?
Only in movies where they have never ending magazines.

I think you are confusing police and military training with expert pharmacists training......

US police should shoot to kill or not at all, law and justice experts say | US news | The Guardian

    It's a rifle.
I'm not anti gun, I've owned guns of some sort since I was eight. I own guns now.
I just don't carry them in public, don't leave them lying around where unbalanced teens or inquisitive toddlers can access them. playfully fire them at people when I think they are unloaded or use them to execute unconscious people.

Yes, police are taught to shoot centre mass, this is not shooting to kill, it is the highest percentage shot for both hitting the target and stopping it. If they shot to kill, they would train for headshots.

Not what happened at the pharmacy. The kid that was executed had no gun and was unconscious when he was killed. The pharmacist had the time to stroll over to another location, pick up another gun and shoot an unconscious man.

NAACP? In Oklahoma? Sure. You're just spouting paranoid nonsense now. If the pharmacist had been satisfied with stopping the criminals and eliminating the threat he'd be fine. Instead he appointed himself judge, jury, and executioner. Can't do that, no matter how much you want to shoot black people. "Ersland will be sentenced July 11, the same day Anthony Morrison and Emanuel Mitchell will be sentenced. Morrison and Mitchell were convicted of first-degree murder and conspiracy for planning the robbery at Reliable Pharmacy." Oklahoma City pharmacist Jerome Ersland found guilty of murder in killing of suspect - CBS News
